2 Chronicles 5

1Thus all the work that Solomon had done for the house of Yahweh was finished. Then Solomon brought in the holy things of David his father, and the silver, the gold, and all the vessels; he put them into the treasuries of the house of God.

2Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel and all the heads of the tribes, the leaders of the fathers’ houses of the sons of Israel, at Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the covenant of Yahweh from the city of David, that is Zion.

3And all the men of Israel assembled before the king at the feast, that is, in the seventh month.

4And all the elders of Israel came, and the Levites carried the ark.

5And they brought up the ark, the tent of meeting, and all the holy vessels that were in the tent; the Levitical priests brought them up.

6And King Solomon and all the assembly of Israel who had assembled before him, before the ark, were sacrificing sheep and cattle that could not be counted or numbered because of their great number.

7Then the priests brought the ark of the covenant of Yahweh to its place, into the inner sanctuary of the house, into the Most Holy Place, under the wings of the cherubim.

8And the cherubim were spreading out their wings over the place of the ark, and the cherubim covered the ark and its poles from above.

9And the poles were so long that the heads of the poles were seen from the ark before the inner sanctuary, but they could not be seen from outside; and they are there to this day.

10There was nothing in the ark except the two tablets that Moses put there at Horeb, where Yahweh made a covenant with the people of Israel when they came out of Egypt.

11And when the priests came out of the Holy Place—for all the priests who were present had consecrated themselves, without regard to divisions—

12And the Levites who were the singers—all of them, Asaph, Heman, Jeduthun, and their sons and their brothers—were clothed in fine linen, with cymbals, harps, and lyres, standing east of the altar; and with them were one hundred twenty priests blowing trumpets.

13And it came about, as the trumpeters and the singers were as one, to make one sound in praising and giving thanks to Yahweh, and when they lifted up their voice with trumpets and cymbals and instruments for song, and in praising Yahweh, “For he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever,” the house, the house of Yahweh, was filled with a cloud.

14and the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud, for the glory of Yahweh filled the house of God.
