2 Chronicles 8

1And it happened at the end of twenty years, during which Solomon had built the house of Yahweh and his own house,

2As for the cities that Huram had given to Solomon, Solomon rebuilt them and settled the people of Israel there.

3Then Solomon went to Hamath-zobah and prevailed against it.

4He built Tadmor in the wilderness, and all the storage cities that he built in Hamath.

5And he built Upper Beth-horon and Lower Beth-horon, fortified cities with walls, doors, and bars.

6and Baalath, and all the storage cities that belonged to Solomon, and all the chariot cities, and the cities of the horsemen, and all that Solomon desired to build in Jerusalem and in Lebanon and throughout all the land of his dominion.

7As for all the people who were left from the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, who were not from Israel—

8From their descendants who were left after them in the land—those whom the sons of Israel had not destroyed—Solomon conscripted them for forced labor, to this day.

9But from the sons of Israel Solomon did not make servants for his work, for they were men of war, and his officers, and the commanders of his chariots and his horsemen.

10These were the chiefs of King Solomon’s deputies: two hundred and fifty, who ruled over the people.

11And Solomon brought Pharaoh’s daughter up from the city of David to the house that he had built for her, for he said, “My wife shall not live in the house of David king of Israel, because the places to which the ark of Yahweh has come are holy.”

12Then Solomon offered up burnt offerings to Yahweh on the altar of Yahweh that he had built before the vestibule.

13according to the daily requirement for offering up sacrifices, as Moses commanded, for the Sabbaths, the new moons, and the appointed feasts three times in the year: at the Feast of Unleavened Bread, at the Feast of Weeks, and at the Feast of Booths.

14And according to the ordinance of David his father, he appointed the divisions of the priests for their service, and the Levites for their duties, to praise and to minister before the priests, as each day required, and the gatekeepers in their divisions for each gate; for so was the commandment of David, the man of God.

15And they did not turn aside from the king’s command concerning the priests and the Levites in any matter, or concerning the treasuries.

16Thus all the work of Solomon was prepared from the day the house of Yahweh was founded until it was finished. So the house of Yahweh was completed.

17Then Solomon went to Ezion-geber and to Eloth, on the shore of the sea in the land of Edom.

18And Huram sent him, by the hand of his servants, ships and servants who knew the sea. They went with Solomon’s servants to Ophir, took from there four hundred and fifty talents of gold, and brought them to King Solomon.
