Instructions for Holy Dwelling
Open in the reader →1Then Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,
Speak to the sons of Israel, that they take an offering for me. From every man whose heart moves him, you shall take my offering.
And this is the contribution that you shall take from them: gold, silver, and bronze.
and blue, and purple, and scarlet yarn, and fine linen, and goat hair,
ram skins dyed red, fine leather skins, and acacia wood,
oil for the light, spices for the anointing oil and for the incense of spices,
onyx stones, and stones for setting, for the ephod and for the breastpiece.
And let them make a sanctuary for me, so that I may dwell among them.
Exactly according to all that I am showing you—the pattern of the tabernacle and the pattern of all its furnishings—so you shall make it.
They shall make an ark of acacia wood, two and a half cubits its length, a cubit and a half its width, and a cubit and a half its height.
You shall overlay it with pure gold; from the inside and from the outside you shall overlay it, and you shall make on it a gold molding all around.
And you shall cast four rings of gold for it and put them on its four feet: two rings on one side of it and two rings on its second side.
You shall make poles of acacia wood and overlay them with gold.
And you shall put the poles into the rings on the sides of the ark, to carry the ark with them.
The poles shall remain in the rings of the ark; they shall not be removed from it.
And you shall put into the ark the testimony that I will give you.
And you shall make a mercy seat of pure gold; its length shall be two cubits and a half, and its width a cubit and a half.
And you shall make two cherubim of gold; of hammered work you shall make them, at the two ends of the mercy seat.
Make one cherub on one end and one cherub on the other end; from the mercy seat you shall make the cherubim on its two ends.
And the cherubim shall spread out their wings upward, overshadowing the mercy seat with their wings, and their faces shall be one toward another; the faces of the cherubim shall be toward the mercy seat.
And you shall put the mercy seat on top of the ark, and into the ark you shall put the testimony that I will give you.
And there I will meet with you, and I will speak with you from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubim that are over the ark of the testimony, about all that I will command you for the sons of Israel.
You shall make a table of acacia wood, two cubits its length, one cubit its width, and a cubit and a half its height.
You shall overlay it with pure gold, and you shall make for it a gold molding all around.
You shall make for it a surrounding frame a handbreadth wide, and you shall make a gold molding around its frame.
And you shall make for it four gold rings, and you shall put the rings on the four corners that are at its four feet.
The rings shall be opposite the frame, as holders for the poles to carry the table.
You shall make the poles of acacia wood and overlay them with gold, and by them the table shall be carried.
You shall make its plates and its dishes, and its pitchers and its bowls with which the drink offering is poured; you shall make them of pure gold.
And you shall set the bread of the Presence on the table before me continually.
And you shall make a lampstand of pure gold. The lampstand shall be made of hammered work; its base and its shaft, its cups, its buds, and its flowers shall be of one piece with it.
And six branches shall come out from its sides: three branches of the lampstand from its one side, and three branches of the lampstand from its other side.
three almond-blossom-shaped cups on the one branch, with bulb and flower, and three almond-blossom-shaped cups on the one branch, with bulb and flower; so it shall be for the six branches coming out from the lampstand.
And on the lampstand there shall be four cups made like almond blossoms, with its buds and its flowers.
and a knob under two branches from it, and a knob under two branches from it, and a knob under two branches from it, for the six branches going out from the lampstand.
Their buds and their branches shall be of one piece with it, all of it a single hammered work of pure gold.
You shall make its seven lamps, and he shall set up its lamps so that they give light in front of it.
Its tongs and its firepans shall be of pure gold.
He shall make it, with all these utensils, from a talent of pure gold.
And see that you make them according to their pattern, which was shown to you on the mountain.
