Exodus 26
Tabernacle Design Revealed
Open in the reader →1And you shall make the tabernacle with ten curtains of finely twisted linen, and blue and purple and scarlet yarn; with cherubim, the work of a skillful designer, you shall make them.
The length of each curtain shall be twenty-eight cubits, and the width of each curtain four cubits; all the curtains shall have one measure.
Five curtains shall be joined to one another, and five curtains shall be joined to one another.
And you shall make loops of blue on the edge of the one curtain at the end of the first set joined together; and so you shall do on the edge of the outermost curtain in the second set joined together.
You shall make fifty loops on the one curtain, and you shall make fifty loops on the edge of the curtain that is in the second set; the loops shall be opposite one another.
And you shall make fifty gold clasps, and join the curtains to one another with the clasps, so that the tabernacle may be one.
You shall make curtains of goats’ hair for a tent over the tabernacle; you shall make them as eleven curtains.
The length of each curtain shall be thirty cubits, and the width of each curtain four cubits; all eleven curtains shall have one measure.
And you shall join the five curtains separately, and the six curtains separately; and you shall fold the sixth curtain double at the front of the tent.
And you shall make fifty loops on the edge of the one curtain, the outermost one in the set joined together, and fifty loops on the edge of the second curtain that is joined to it.
And you shall make fifty bronze clasps, and put the clasps into the loops, and join the tent together, so that it may be one.
And the overhang that remains from the tent curtains—the half curtain that remains over—shall hang over the back of the tabernacle.
And the extra cubit on this side and the extra cubit on that side, from the surplus in the length of the tent curtains, shall hang over the sides of the tabernacle on this side and on that side, to cover it.
And you shall make for the tent a covering of rams’ skins dyed red, and a covering of tahash skins above.
And you shall make the frames for the tabernacle of acacia wood, standing upright.
The length of each frame shall be ten cubits, and the width of each frame one and a half cubits.
Each board is to have two tenons joined one to another; this is how you shall make all the boards of the tabernacle.
And you shall make the frames for the tabernacle: twenty frames for the south side, southward.
And you shall make forty silver bases under the twenty frames: two bases under one frame for its two tenons, and two bases under the next frame for its two tenons.
And for the second side of the tabernacle, on the north side, twenty frames.
and their forty bases shall be of silver: two bases under the one frame, and two bases under the other frame.
And for the rear side of the tabernacle, westward, you shall make six boards.
And you shall make two boards for the corners of the tabernacle at the rear.
They shall be paired at the bottom, and together they shall be complete at its top, to the first ring. So it shall be for both of them; they shall be for the two corners.
There shall be eight frames, with their silver bases: sixteen bases, two bases under one frame and two bases under the other frame.
And you shall make five bars of acacia wood for the frames of the one side of the tabernacle.
and five bars for the boards of the second side of the tabernacle, and five bars for the boards of the side of the tabernacle at the rear westward.
And the middle bar, in the midst of the frames, shall extend from end to end.
You shall overlay the frames with gold, and you shall make their rings of gold as holders for the bars, and you shall overlay the bars with gold.
And you shall set up the tabernacle according to its ordinance, which you were shown on the mountain.
And you shall make a veil of blue, purple, and scarlet yarn, and fine twisted linen; it shall be made with cherubim, the work of a skillful designer.
And you shall hang it on four pillars of acacia wood overlaid with gold, their hooks being of gold, on four silver bases.
And you shall place the veil under the clasps, and there, within the veil, you shall bring the ark of the testimony; and the veil shall separate for you between the Holy Place and the Most Holy Place.
And you shall place the mercy seat on the ark of the testimony in the Most Holy Place.
And you shall place the table outside the veil, and the lampstand opposite the table on the south side of the tabernacle; and you shall put the table on the north side.
You shall make a screen for the entrance of the tent, of blue and purple and scarlet yarn, and fine twisted linen, the work of an embroiderer.
And you shall make for the screen five pillars of acacia wood, and overlay them with gold; their hooks shall be of gold; and you shall cast for them five bases of bronze.
