Ezekiel 10

1Then I looked, and behold, on the expanse that was above the heads of the cherubim there appeared over them something like a sapphire stone, in appearance like the likeness of a throne.

2And he said to the man clothed in linen, “Go in among the wheelwork, under the cherub, and fill your hands with coals of fire from among the cherubim, and scatter them over the city.” And he went in before my eyes.

3The cherubim were standing on the right side of the house when the man went in, and the cloud filled the inner court.

4And the glory of Yahweh rose up from above the cherub to the threshold of the house, and the house was filled with the cloud, and the court was filled with the brightness of the glory of Yahweh.

5And the sound of the wings of the cherubim was heard as far as the outer court, like the sound of God Almighty when he speaks.

6And it happened, when he commanded the man clothed in linen, saying, “Take fire from between the wheelwork, from between the cherubim,” that he went in and stood beside the wheel.

7Then the cherub stretched out his hand from among the cherubim to the fire that was among the cherubim, and he lifted it up and put it into the palms of the one clothed in linen, who took it and went out.

8And the cherubim appeared to have the form of a human hand under their wings.

9And I looked, and behold, four wheels beside the cherubim, one wheel beside each cherub; and the appearance of the wheels was like beryl stone.

10As for their appearance, the four of them had one likeness, as when a wheel is within a wheel.

11When they went, they would go in any of their four directions; they did not turn as they went, for to the place where the head faced, they followed after it; they did not turn as they went.

12And all their bodies, their backs, their hands, their wings, and the wheels were full of eyes all around—the wheels belonging to the four of them.

13As for the wheels, they were called “the whirling wheel” in my hearing.

14And each one had four faces: the face of the first was the face of the cherub, and the face of the second was the face of a man, and the third the face of a lion, and the fourth the face of an eagle.

15And the cherubim rose up. They were the living creature that I had seen by the Kebar Canal.

16When the cherubim moved, the wheels moved beside them; and when the cherubim lifted up their wings to rise from the earth, the wheels also did not turn away from beside them.

17When they stood still, these stood still; and when they were lifted up, these were lifted up with them, for the spirit of the living creature was in them.

18Then the glory of Yahweh went out from above the threshold of the house and stood over the cherubim.

19Then the cherubim lifted up their wings and rose from the earth before my eyes as they went out, with the wheels beside them; and it stood at the entrance of the eastern gate of the house of Yahweh, and the glory of the God of Israel was above them, from above.

20This was the living creature that I saw beneath the God of Israel by the Kebar Canal, and I knew that they were cherubim.

21Each one had four faces, and each one had four wings, and the likeness of human hands was under their wings.

22And the likeness of their faces was the same as the faces that I had seen by the Kebar River—their appearances and themselves. Each one went straight ahead.
