Ezekiel 43

1Then he brought me to the gate, the gate that faces east.

2And behold, the glory of the God of Israel was coming from the way of the east, and his voice was like the sound of many waters, and the earth shone from his glory.

3And the appearance of what I saw was like the appearance that I had seen when I came to destroy the city, and the visions were like the appearance that I had seen by the Kebar Canal; and I fell on my face.

4And the glory of Yahweh came into the house by way of the gate that faces east.

5Then the Spirit lifted me up and brought me into the inner court, and behold, the glory of Yahweh filled the house.

6Then I heard one speaking to me from the house, while a man was standing beside me.

7And he said to me, “Son of man, this is the place of my throne and the place of the soles of my feet, where I will dwell among the children of Israel forever. And the house of Israel shall no longer defile my holy name, neither they nor their kings, by their prostitution and by the corpses of their kings on their high places.”

8When they set their threshold beside my threshold and their doorposts beside my doorposts, with only the wall between me and them, they defiled my holy name by the abominations that they committed; so I consumed them in my anger.

9Now let them put far from me their prostitution and the corpses of their kings, and I will dwell in their midst forever.

10As for you, son of man, declare the temple to the house of Israel, so that they may be ashamed of their iniquities; and let them measure the plan.

11And if they are ashamed of all that they have done, make known to them the design of the house, its arrangement, its exits, its entrances, all its forms, all its statutes, and all its laws; and write it before their eyes, so that they may keep its whole design and all its statutes and do them.

12This is the law of the house: on the top of the mountain, all its surrounding territory is most holy. Behold, this is the law of the house.

13And these are the measurements of the altar in cubits (the cubit being a cubit and a handbreadth): its gutter shall be one cubit, and one cubit its width, and its border on its rim all around shall be one span. And this shall be the base of the altar.

14And from the ledge of the ground to the lower platform shall be two cubits, with a width of one cubit; and from the smaller platform to the larger platform shall be four cubits, with a width of one cubit.

15And the altar hearth shall be four cubits, and from the altar hearth and upward, four horns.

16And the altar hearth was twelve cubits long by twelve wide, square on its four sides.

17And the ledge was fourteen cubits long by fourteen cubits wide at its four sides, and the rim around it was half a cubit, and its base was a cubit all around; and its steps faced east.

18And he said to me, “Son of man, thus says the Lord GOD: These are the statutes of the altar on the day it is made, for offering burnt offerings on it and for sprinkling blood on it.”

19And you shall give to the Levitical priests who are from the offspring of Zadok, who draw near to me to minister to me, declares the Lord GOD, a bull from the herd for a sin offering.

20And you shall take some of its blood and put it on its four horns, on the four corners of the ledge, and on the border all around; so you shall purify it and make atonement for it.

21Then you shall take the bull of the sin offering and burn it in the appointed place of the house, outside the sanctuary.

22And on the second day you shall present a male goat without blemish for a sin offering, and they shall purify the altar just as they purified it with the bull.

23When you have finished making purification, you shall present a flawless young bull and a flawless ram from the flock.

24You shall present them before Yahweh, and the priests shall throw salt on them and offer them up as a burnt offering to Yahweh.

25For seven days you shall offer a goat as a sin offering each day, and they shall offer a bull, a son of the herd, and a ram from the flock, without blemish.

26For seven days they shall make atonement for the altar and cleanse it, and they shall consecrate it.

27When the days are completed, then from the eighth day onward the priests shall offer on the altar your burnt offerings and your peace offerings, and I will accept you, declares the Lord GOD.
