Ezekiel 42

1Then he brought me out into the outer court by the way toward the north, and he brought me to the chamber that was opposite the separate area and opposite the building to the north.

2Facing the length of one hundred cubits was the north entrance, and the width was fifty cubits.

3Opposite the twenty cubits that belonged to the inner court, and opposite the pavement that belonged to the outer court, gallery faced gallery in the third story.

4Before the chambers was a walkway ten cubits wide toward the inner court, and a passage one cubit wide; and their entrances faced north.

5And the upper chambers were narrower, because the galleries took away from them, more than from the lower and the middle parts of the building.

6For they were in three stories, and they had no pillars like the pillars of the courts; therefore the upper stories receded more than the lower and middle ones from the ground.

7And the wall that was outside, alongside the chambers, toward the outer court, in front of the chambers—its length was fifty cubits.

8For the length of the chambers that were by the outer court was fifty cubits, and behold, the part facing the temple was a hundred cubits.

9And below these chambers was the entrance from the east, as one enters them from the outer court.

10Along the width of the court wall toward the east, facing the separate area and facing the building, were chambers.

11And before them was a passage, like the appearance of the chambers that faced north; as was their length, so was their width, and all their exits, their arrangements, and their entrances were alike.

12And corresponding to the doorways of the chambers that were toward the south, there was a doorway at the head of the way, the way in front of the protective wall, toward the east, as one enters them.

13Then he said to me, “The north chambers, the south chambers, which are opposite the separate area—they are the holy chambers, where the priests who draw near to Yahweh shall eat the most holy things. There they shall place the most holy things, the grain offering, the sin offering, and the guilt offering, for the place is holy.”

14When the priests enter, they shall not go out from the holy place into the outer court, but there they shall leave their garments in which they minister, for they are holy. They shall put on other garments, and then approach what belongs to the people.

15When he had finished measuring the inner house, he brought me out by way of the gate that faced east, and he measured it all around.

16He measured the east side with the measuring reed: five hundred reeds by the measuring reed, all around.

17He measured the north side: five hundred reeds, by the measuring reed all around.

18He measured the south side: five hundred reeds by the measuring reed.

19He turned to the west side and measured five hundred reeds with the measuring reed.

20He measured it on the four sides; it had a wall all around, five hundred cubits long and five hundred cubits wide, to make a separation between the holy and the common.
