Ezekiel 47
Living Water Flows Bringing Life
Open in the reader →1Then he brought me back to the entrance of the house, and behold, water was coming out from under the threshold of the house eastward, because the front of the house faced east; and the water was flowing down from under the south side of the house, on the right side, south of the altar.
Then he brought me out by way of the north gate, and led me around by the outside way to the outer gate, the one facing east; and behold, water was trickling from the right side.
As the man went out eastward with a measuring line in his hand, he measured a thousand cubits and led me through the water, water up to the ankles.
Again he measured a thousand, and led me through the water—water up to the knees. Again he measured a thousand, and led me through water up to the waist.
Again he measured a thousand, and it was a river that I could not cross, because the waters had risen—waters to swim in, a river that could not be crossed.
Then he said to me, “Have you seen this, son of man?” Then he led me and brought me back to the bank of the stream.
When I returned, behold, on the bank of the stream were very many trees, on this side and on that side.
Then he said to me, “These waters flow out toward the eastern district and go down into the Arabah; then they enter the sea. and when they are brought out into the sea, the waters are healed.”
And every living creature that swarms, wherever the river goes, will live. And there will be very many fish, because these waters go there and are healed; everything will live wherever the river goes.
And it will happen that fishermen will stand beside it; from En-gedi even to En-eglaim there will be a place for spreading nets. Their fish will be of many kinds, like the fish of the Great Sea, very many.
But its swamps and marshes will not be healed; they are left for salt.
Along the river, on its bank, on this side and on that side, every kind of tree for food will grow. Its leaf will not wither, and its fruit will not fail; every month it will bear fresh fruit, because its waters are coming out from the sanctuary. Its fruit will be for food, and its leaf for healing.
Thus says the Lord GOD: This is the boundary by which you shall apportion the land as an inheritance among the twelve tribes of Israel; Joseph shall have two portions.
You shall inherit it, each like his brother, concerning which I raised my hand to give it to your fathers; and this land shall fall to you as an inheritance.
And this shall be the boundary of the land: on the north side, from the Great Sea by the way of Hethlon to Lebo-zedad.
Hamath, Berothah, Sibraim—which is between the border of Damascus and the border of Hamath—Hazer-hattikon, which is toward the border of Hauran.
So the border shall be from the sea to Hazar-enon, at the border of Damascus; and on the north, northward, with the border of Hamath. This shall be the north side.
And the eastern side shall be from between Hauran and Damascus, and between Gilead and the land of Israel, the Jordan, from the border to the eastern sea; you shall measure the eastern side.
And the south side, southward, shall be from Tamar to the waters of Meriboth-kadesh, to the wadi, to the Great Sea. This is the south side, southward.
And the west side shall be the Great Sea, from the border up to opposite Lebo-hamath. This is the west side.
So you shall divide this land among yourselves according to the tribes of Israel.
And it shall be that you shall allot it as an inheritance for yourselves and for the sojourners who sojourn among you, who have fathered children among you; and they shall be to you like a native among the sons of Israel. With you they shall receive an inheritance among the tribes of Israel.
And it shall be that in the tribe with which the sojourner resides, there you shall give him his inheritance, declares the Lord GOD.
