Ezekiel 7
God Announces Coming Judgment
Open in the reader →1And the word of Yahweh came to me, saying,
And you, son of man, thus says the Lord GOD to the land of Israel: An end! The end has come upon the four corners of the land.
Now the end is upon you, and I will send my anger against you. I will judge you according to your ways, and I will bring all your abominations upon you.
My eye will not spare you, nor will I have pity; for I will bring your ways upon you, and your abominations will be within you. Then you will know that I am Yahweh.
Thus says the Lord GOD: A disaster, a unique disaster—behold, it is coming.
An end has come; the end has come. It has awakened against you; look, it is coming.
Doom has come upon you, inhabitant of the land. The time has come; the day is near—panic, and not joyful shouting on the mountains.
Now, soon I will pour out my wrath on you, and I will spend my anger against you; I will judge you according to your ways, and I will bring all your abominations upon you.
My eye will not spare, nor will I show pity. I will bring your ways upon you, and your abominations will be in your midst. Then you will know that I am Yahweh, who strikes.
Look, the day! Look, it comes! Doom has gone out; the rod has budded; arrogance has blossomed.
Violence has arisen into a rod of wickedness; none of them remains, none of their multitude, none of their wealth, and there is no eminence among them.
The time has come; the day has arrived. Let not the buyer rejoice, and let not the seller mourn, for wrath is against all her multitude.
For the seller will not return to what was sold, though they are still alive; for the vision concerning all its multitude will not turn back, and no one will strengthen his life in his iniquity.
They have blown the trumpet and made everything ready, but no one goes to battle, for my wrath is against all her multitude.
The sword is outside, and pestilence and famine are inside. Whoever is in the field will die by the sword, and whoever is in the city, famine and pestilence will consume him.
And their survivors will escape and be on the mountains, like doves of the valleys, all of them moaning, each one in his iniquity.
All hands will grow weak, and all knees will run with water.
They will put on sackcloth, and horror will cover them; shame will be on every face, and baldness on all their heads.
They will throw their silver into the streets, and their gold will become an unclean thing. Their silver and their gold will not be able to deliver them in the day of Yahweh’s wrath. They will not satisfy their appetite, nor fill their stomachs, for it has become the stumbling block of their iniquity.
And they made the beauty of his ornament into pride, and in it they made the images of their abominations, their detestable things; therefore I have made it an unclean thing to them.
And I will give it into the hand of foreigners for plunder, and to the wicked of the earth for spoil, and they will profane it.
I will turn my face away from them, and they will profane my treasured place; violent men will enter it and profane it.
Make the chain, for the land is full of bloody crimes, and the city is full of violence.
And I will bring the worst of the nations, and they will take possession of their houses. I will put an end to the pride of the strong, and their sanctuaries will be profaned.
Anguish has come, and they will seek peace, but there is none.
Disaster upon disaster will come, and rumor upon rumor will arise. They will seek a vision from a prophet, but instruction will perish from the priest, and counsel from the elders.
The king will mourn, and the prince will clothe himself with desolation, and the hands of the people of the land will tremble. According to their way I will deal with them, and by their own judgments I will judge them. Then they will know that I am Yahweh.
