Ezekiel 6

1And the word of Yahweh came to me, saying,

2Son of man, set your face toward the mountains of Israel, and prophesy to them.

3and say, ‘Mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord GOD. Thus says the Lord GOD to the mountains and to the hills, to the ravines and to the valleys: Behold, I myself am bringing a sword upon you, and I will destroy your high places.’

4Your altars will be desolated, and your incense altars will be broken; and I will cast down your slain before your idols.

5And I will place the corpses of the sons of Israel before their idols, and I will scatter your bones around your altars.

6In all your dwelling places, the cities will be laid waste and the high places will be desolated, so that your altars may be laid waste and desolated, and your idols broken and brought to an end, and your incense altars cut down, and your works wiped out.

7The slain will fall in your midst, and you will know that I am Yahweh.

8Yet I will leave a remnant, when some of you become escapees from the sword among the nations, when you are scattered through the lands.

9Then your survivors will remember me among the nations where they were taken captive, when I have broken their whoring heart that turned away from me, and their eyes that whored after their idols; and they will loathe themselves for the evils they committed in all their abominations.

10Then they will know that I am Yahweh; I did not speak in vain when I said I would bring this disaster upon them.

11Thus says the Lord GOD: Strike your hand and stamp your foot, and say, “Alas!” because of all the evil abominations of the house of Israel, who will fall by the sword, by famine, and by pestilence.

12The one far away will die by pestilence, and the one nearby will fall by the sword, and the one left and besieged will die by famine; and I will spend my wrath on them.

13Then you will know that I am Yahweh, when their slain lie among their idols, all around their altars, on every high hill, on all the mountaintops, and under every green tree and under every leafy terebinth—the places where they offered a pleasing aroma to all their idols.

14So I will stretch out my hand against them and make the land a desolation and a waste, from the wilderness toward Diblath, throughout all their settlements. Then they will know that I am Yahweh.
