Floodwaters Cover the Earth

Open in the reader →

Then Yahweh said to Noah, “Enter the ark, you and all your household, because I have seen that you are righteous before me in this generation.”

From every clean animal you shall take for yourself seven pairs, a male and its mate; and from the animals that are not clean, two, a male and its mate.

Also from the birds of the sky, seven and seven, male and female, to keep offspring alive on the face of all the earth.

For in seven more days I will make it rain on the earth forty days and forty nights, and I will wipe out every living thing that I have made from the face of the ground.

And Noah did according to all that Yahweh had commanded him.

Noah was six hundred years old, and the flood was upon the earth.

And Noah, with his sons, his wife, and his sons’ wives with him, entered the ark because of the waters of the flood.

From the clean animals and from the animals that are not clean, and from the birds and everything that creeps on the ground—

Two by two they came to Noah into the ark, male and female, just as God had commanded Noah.

And after seven days, the waters of the flood came upon the earth.

In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on that day all the springs of the great deep burst open, and the windows of the heavens were opened.

And the rain fell on the earth forty days and forty nights.

On that very day Noah entered the ark, with Shem, Ham, and Japheth, Noah’s sons, and Noah’s wife, and the three wives of his sons with them.

they, and every wild animal according to its kind, and every livestock animal according to its kind, and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth according to its kind, and every bird according to its kind—every winged bird.

They came to Noah into the ark, two by two from all flesh in which was the breath of life.

And those that entered, male and female from all flesh, as God had commanded him; and Yahweh shut him in.

And the flood was on the earth forty days, and the waters increased and lifted up the ark, so that it rose above the earth.

The waters prevailed and increased greatly over the earth, and the ark moved along on the surface of the waters.

And the waters prevailed exceedingly over the earth, and all the high mountains under all the heavens were covered.

The waters rose fifteen cubits higher, and the mountains were covered.

And all flesh that moved on the earth died: birds, livestock, wild animals, every swarming thing that swarms on the earth, and all mankind.

Everything on the dry land in whose nostrils was the breath of the spirit of life died.

He blotted out every living thing that was on the face of the ground, from man to livestock to creeping things and to the birds of the heavens. They were blotted out from the earth, and only Noah was left, and those who were with him in the ark.

And the waters prevailed over the earth for 150 days.
