Joshua 18

1Then the whole congregation of the sons of Israel assembled at Shiloh and set up the tent of meeting there, and the land was subdued before them.

2But among the sons of Israel there remained seven tribes that had not apportioned their inheritance.

3And Joshua said to the sons of Israel, “How long will you be slack about going in to take possession of the land that Yahweh, the God of your fathers, has given you?”

4Provide for yourselves three men from each tribe, and I will send them out; they shall arise and walk through the land and write it down according to their inheritance, and they shall come to me.

5And they shall divide it into seven portions. Judah shall remain at its border on the south, and the house of Joseph shall remain at their border on the north.

6And you shall write down the land in seven portions and bring it here to me, and I will cast the lot for you here before the LORD our God.

7For there is no portion for the Levites among you, because the priesthood of Yahweh is their inheritance. And Gad, Reuben, and the half-tribe of Manasseh have received their inheritance beyond the Jordan eastward, which Moses the servant of Yahweh gave them.

8So the men arose and went, and Joshua commanded those who were going to write down the land, saying, “Go and walk through the land, and write it down, and return to me; and here I will cast lots for you before Yahweh in Shiloh.”

9So the men went and passed through the land, and they wrote it down by cities in seven portions in a book, and they came to Joshua at the camp in Shiloh.

10Then Joshua cast lots for them at Shiloh before Yahweh, and there Joshua divided the land to the sons of Israel according to their divisions.

11And the lot for the tribe of the sons of Benjamin, by their clans, came up, and the territory of their lot came out between the sons of Judah and the sons of Joseph.

12Their border on the north side was from the Jordan, and the border went up to the northern slope of Jericho, then went up into the hill country westward, and its end was at the wilderness of Beth-aven.

13From there the border passed to Luz, to the southern slope of Luz (that is, Bethel), and the border went down to Atroth-addar, on the mountain that is south of Lower Beth-horon.

14Then the border curved and turned on the west side southward from the mountain that faces Beth-horon on the south, and its end was at Kiriath-baal (that is, Kiriath-jearim), a city of the sons of Judah. This was the western side.

15And the southern side was from the edge of Kiriath-jearim, and the border went out westward and went out to the spring of the waters of Nephtoah.

16Then the border went down to the end of the mountain that faces the Valley of Ben-hinnom, which is at the northern end of the Valley of Rephaim. Then it went down the Valley of Hinnom to the southern slope of the Jebusite, and went down to En-rogel.

17Then it curved northward and went out to En-shemesh, and went out to Geliloth, which is opposite the Ascent of Adummim, and it went down to the stone of Bohan son of Reuben.

18Then it passed on to the shoulder opposite the Arabah on the north, and went down to the Arabah.

19Then the border passed to the northern shoulder of Beth-hoglah, and the border ended at the northern tongue of the Salt Sea, at the southern end of the Jordan. This is the southern border.

20And the Jordan formed its border on the east side. This was the inheritance of the sons of Benjamin, according to its borders all around, by their clans.

21And the cities belonging to the tribe of the sons of Benjamin, according to their clans, were Jericho, Beth-hoglah, and Emek-keziz.

22Beth-arabah, Zemaraim, and Bethel.

23Avvim, Parah, and Ophrah.

24And Chephar-ammoni, Ophni, and Geba: twelve cities with their villages.

25Gibeon, Ramah, and Beeroth.

26and Hamizpeh, Hakkephirah, and Hammozah.

27Rekem, Irpeel, and Taralah.

28Zela, Haeleph, the Jebusite (that is, Jerusalem), Gibeath, Kiriath—fourteen cities with their villages. This was the inheritance of the sons of Benjamin according to their clans.
