Open in the reader →

The second lot came out for Simeon, for the tribe of the sons of Simeon according to their clans, and their inheritance was within the inheritance of the sons of Judah.

And they had in their inheritance Beer-sheba, Sheba, and Moladah.

Hazar-shual, Balah, and Ezem,

Eltolad, Bethul, and Hormah.

and Ziklag, Beth-marcaboth, and Hazar-susah;

Beth-lebaoth and Sharuhen: thirteen cities, with their villages.

Ain, Rimmon, Ether, and Ashan: four cities, with their villages.

along with all the villages that were around these cities, as far as Baalath-beer, Ramath-negeb. This was the inheritance of the tribe of the sons of Simeon according to their clans.

From the portion of the sons of Judah came the inheritance of the sons of Simeon, because the share of the sons of Judah was too large for them; so the sons of Simeon received their inheritance within Judah's inheritance.

The third lot came up for the sons of Zebulun, according to their clans, and the border of their inheritance was as far as Sarid.

And their border went up westward to Maralah, and touched Dabbesheth, and touched the wadi that is opposite Jokneam.

Then it turned back from Sarid eastward, toward the sunrise, to the border of Kisloth-tabor, and went out to Daberath and up to Japhia.

From there it passed eastward, toward the sunrise, to Gath-hepher, to Eth-kazin, and went out to Rimmon, which extends to Neah.

Then the border turned around it on the north to Hannathon, and its end was at the Valley of Iphtah-el.

Kattath, Nahalal, Shimron, Idalah, and Bethlehem: twelve cities with their villages.

This was the inheritance of the sons of Zebulun according to their clans, these cities and their villages.

For Issachar, the fourth lot came out, for the sons of Issachar according to their clans.

And their border was Jezreel, Chesulloth, and Shunem.

Hapharaim, Shion, and Anaharath.

and Rabbith, and Kishion, and Ebez.

Remeth, En-gannim, En-haddah, and Beth-pazzez.

And the border touched Tabor, Shahazumah, and Beth-shemesh, and the end of their border was at the Jordan—sixteen cities with their villages.

This was the inheritance of the tribe of the sons of Issachar, according to their clans—the cities and their villages.

The fifth lot came out for the tribe of the sons of Asher, according to their clans.

And their border was Helkath, Hali, Beten, and Akshaph.

and Allammelech, Amad, and Mishal; and it reached to Carmel westward, and to Shihor-libnath.

Then it turned eastward, toward the sunrise, to Beth-dagon, and reached to Zebulun and to the Valley of Iphtah-el northward, to Beth-emek and Neiel; then it went out to Cabul on the left.

Ebron, Rehob, Hammon, and Kanah, as far as Great Sidon.

Then the border turned to Ramah, and to the fortified city of Tyre; then the border turned to Hosah, and its boundary points were at the sea, from the region of Achzib.

Ummah, Aphek, and Rehob: twenty-two cities, with their villages.

This was the inheritance of the tribe of the sons of Asher according to their clans—these cities and their settlements.

For the sons of Naphtali, the sixth lot came out, for the sons of Naphtali according to their clans.

And their border was from Heleph, from the oak in Zaannannim, and Adami-nekeb and Jabneel, as far as Lakkum; and its end was at the Jordan.

Then the border turned westward to Aznoth-tabor, and from there it went out to Hukkok, and it reached Zebulun on the south, and it reached Asher on the west, and Judah at the Jordan toward the east, where the sun rises.

And the fortified cities were Ziddim, Zer, Hammath, Rakkath, and Kinnereth.

Adamah, Ramah, and Hazor.

and Kedesh, and Edrei, and En-hazor.

and Yiron, Migdal-el, Horem, Beth-anath, and Beth-shemesh: nineteen cities, with their villages.

This was the inheritance of the tribe of the sons of Naphtali according to their clans—the cities and their villages.

For the tribe of the sons of Dan, according to their clans, the seventh lot came out.

And the border of their inheritance was Zorah, Eshtaol, and Ir-shemesh.

and Shaalabbin, and Aijalon, and Ithlah.

and Aijalon, Timnah, and Ekron.

Eltekeh, Gibbethon, and Baalath.

Jehud, Bene-berak, and Gath-rimmon.

and the waters of Jarkon and Rakkon, with the territory opposite Joppa.

But the territory of the sons of Dan went out beyond them, so the sons of Dan went up and fought against Leshem, and they captured it and struck it with the edge of the sword, and they took possession of it and lived in it, and they called Leshem Dan, after the name of Dan their father.

This was the inheritance of the tribe of the sons of Dan, according to their clans: these cities with their villages.

When they finished apportioning the land by its territories, the sons of Israel gave an inheritance to Joshua son of Nun among them.

At the command of Yahweh they gave him the city that he asked for, Timnath-serah in the hill country of Ephraim. He built the city and lived in it.

These are the inheritances that Eleazar the priest, Joshua son of Nun, and the heads of the fathers’ houses of the tribes of the sons of Israel apportioned by lot at Shiloh before Yahweh, at the entrance of the tent of meeting. So they finished dividing the land.
