Leviticus 27

1And Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,

2Speak to the sons of Israel and say to them: When a man makes a special vow, involving the valuation of persons to Yahweh,

3And your valuation for the male from twenty years old up to sixty years old shall be fifty shekels of silver, according to the sanctuary shekel.

4But if it is a female, then your valuation shall be thirty shekels.

5And if it is from five years old up to twenty years old, your valuation shall be twenty shekels for the male and ten shekels for the female.

6If it is from a month old up to five years old, your valuation for the male shall be five shekels of silver, and for the female your valuation shall be three shekels of silver.

7And if from sixty years old and upward, if male, then your valuation shall be fifteen shekels, and for the female ten shekels.

8But if he is too poor for your valuation, then he shall be made to stand before the priest, and the priest shall assess him; the priest shall assess him according to what the one making the vow can afford.

9And if it is an animal from which they present an offering to Yahweh, everything that one gives from it to Yahweh shall be holy.

10He shall not replace it or exchange it, good for bad or bad for good; and if he does indeed exchange one animal for another, then both it and its substitute shall be holy.

11But if it is any unclean animal from which they may not present an offering to Yahweh, then he shall set the animal before the priest,

12and the priest shall assess it, whether good or bad; as the priest assesses it, so it shall be.

13But if he does redeem it, then he shall add a fifth to your valuation.

14And if a man consecrates his house as holy to Yahweh, then the priest shall assess it, whether good or bad; as the priest assesses it, so it shall stand.

15And if the one who consecrated it redeems his house, then he shall add a fifth of the silver of your valuation to it, and it shall be his.

16If a man consecrates to Yahweh part of the field of his possession, then your valuation shall be according to its seed requirement: fifty shekels of silver for the seed of a homer of barley.

17If he consecrates his field from the year of jubilee, your valuation shall stand.

18But if he consecrates his field after the Jubilee, then the priest shall calculate the money for him according to the years remaining until the year of Jubilee, and it shall be deducted from your valuation.

19But if the one who consecrated it indeed redeems the field, then he shall add a fifth of your valuation money to it, and it shall remain his.

20But if he does not redeem the field, or if he has sold the field to another man, it may not be redeemed again.

21But the field, when it is released in the Jubilee, shall be holy to Yahweh, like a field devoted to destruction; it shall be the priest’s possession.

22But if he consecrates to Yahweh a field of his purchase, which is not from the field of his inherited property,

23then the priest shall calculate for him the proportion of your valuation up to the Year of Jubilee, and on that day he shall give your valuation as a holy offering to Yahweh.

24In the year of jubilee the field shall return to the one from whom it was bought, to the one to whom the possession of the land belongs.

25And every valuation of yours shall be by the sanctuary shekel; the shekel shall be twenty gerahs.

26However, a firstborn among the livestock, which as a firstborn belongs to Yahweh, no man may consecrate; whether an ox or a sheep, it belongs to Yahweh.

27But if it is among the unclean animals, then he shall redeem it at your valuation and add a fifth of it to it; and if it is not redeemed, then it shall be sold at your valuation.

28However, every devoted thing that a man devotes to Yahweh from all that belongs to him—whether human or animal, or from the field of his inherited property—shall not be sold or redeemed. Every devoted thing is most holy to Yahweh.

29No devoted thing that is devoted from man may be redeemed; it must surely be put to death.

30Every tithe of the land, from the seed of the land and from the fruit of the tree, belongs to Yahweh; it is holy to Yahweh.

31But if a man redeems any of his tithe, he shall add a fifth to it.

32And every tithe of the herd and the flock, every tenth animal that passes under the rod, shall be holy to Yahweh.

33He shall not inspect whether it is good or bad, nor shall he exchange it; and if he does in fact exchange it, then both it and its substitute shall be holy; it shall not be redeemed.

34These are the commandments that Yahweh commanded Moses for the sons of Israel at Mount Sinai.
