Micah 2

1Woe to those who devise wickedness and work out evil on their beds! At the light of morning they do it, because it is in the power of their hand.

2They covet fields and seize them, and houses and take them away; they oppress a man and his house, a man and his inheritance.

3Therefore, this is what Yahweh says: Look, I am planning disaster against this family, from which you will not remove your necks, and you will not walk haughtily, for it is an evil time.

4On that day one will take up a taunt against you and lament a lament, saying, “We are utterly ruined! He changes the portion of my people. How he removes it from me! To the one who turns away he divides our fields.”

5Therefore you will have no one to cast the measuring line by lot in the assembly of Yahweh.

6“Do not preach,” they preach. “One should not preach about these things; disgrace will not overtake us.”

7Should it be said, O house of Jacob, “Is the Spirit of Yahweh impatient? Are these his deeds?” Do not my words do good to the one who walks uprightly?

8But lately my people have risen up as an enemy; from off the garment you strip the robe from those who pass by securely, those returning from war.

9You drive the women of my people out from their delightful houses; from their children you take away my splendor forever.

10Rise and go, for this is not the resting place; because of uncleanness it brings destruction, even grievous destruction.

11If a man should go about with wind and falsehood, lying, ‘I will preach to you of wine and strong drink,’ he would be the preacher of this people.

12I will surely gather all of you, Jacob; I will surely collect the remnant of Israel. Together I will set them like the sheep of Bozrah, like a flock in the midst of its pasture; they will be noisy with men.

13The one who breaks through has gone up before them; they have broken through and passed through the gate, and gone out by it. Their king passes on before them, and Yahweh is at their head.
