Micah 5

1But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, too small to be among the clans of Judah, from you one will come out for me to be ruler in Israel, whose goings forth are from of old, from the days of eternity.

2Therefore he will give them up until the time when she who is in labor has given birth; then the rest of his brothers will return to the sons of Israel.

3And he will stand and shepherd in the strength of Yahweh, in the majesty of the name of Yahweh his God. And they will dwell secure, for now he will be great to the ends of the earth.

4And he will be peace. When Assyria comes into our land and treads in our citadels, then we will raise up against him seven shepherds and eight princes of men.

5They will shepherd the land of Assyria with the sword, and the land of Nimrod at its entrances; and he will deliver us from Assyria when he comes into our land, and when he treads within our border.

6And the remnant of Jacob will be among many peoples like dew from Yahweh, like showers upon the grass, which do not wait for a man or delay for the sons of man.

7And the remnant of Jacob will be among the nations, in the midst of many peoples, like a lion among the beasts of the forest, like a young lion among flocks of sheep, which, if it passes through, tramples and tears, and there is none to rescue.

8May your hand be lifted up over your adversaries, and may all your enemies be cut off.

9And in that day, declares Yahweh, I will cut off your horses from among you, and I will destroy your chariots.

10And I will cut off the cities of your land, and I will tear down all your strongholds.

11And I will cut off sorceries from your hand, and you will have no soothsayers.

12And I will cut off your carved images and your pillars from your midst, and you will no longer bow down to the work of your hands.

13And I will uproot your Asherah poles from your midst, and I will destroy your cities.

14And I will execute vengeance in anger and wrath on the nations that have not listened.
