Nehemiah 10

1And because of all this, we are making a binding agreement in writing, and on the sealed document are our officials, our Levites, and our priests.

2And on the sealed document were Nehemiah the governor, son of Hacaliah, and Zedekiah.

3Seraiah, Azariah, Jeremiah.

4Pashhur, Amariah, Malkijah.

5Hattush, Shebaniah, Malluk.

6Harim, Meremoth, Obadiah.

7Daniel, Ginnethon, Baruch.

8Meshullam, Abijah, Mijamin.

9Maaziah, Bilgai, Shemaiah—these were the priests.

10and the Levites: Jeshua son of Azaniah, Binnui from the sons of Henadad, Kadmiel.

11and their brothers: Shebaniah, Hodiah, Kelita, Pelaiah, Hanan.

12Mica, Rehob, Hashabiah.

13Zaccur, Sherebiah, Shebaniah.

14Hodiah, Bani, Beninu.

15the heads of the people: Parosh, Pahath-moab, Elam, Zattu, Bani.

16Bunni, Azgad, Bebai.

17Adonijah, Bigvai, Adin.

18Ater, Hezekiah, Azzur.

19Hodiah, Hashum, Bezai.

20Hariph, Anathoth, Nobai.

21Magpiash, Meshullam, Hezir.

22Meshezabel, Zadok, Jaddua.

23Pelatiah, Hanan, Anaiah.

24Hosea, Hananiah, Hasshub.

25Hallohesh, Pilha, Shobek.

26Rehum, Hashabnah, Maaseiah.

27and Ahijah, Hanan, Anan.

28Malluk, Harim, Baanah.

29and the rest of the people—the priests, the Levites, the gatekeepers, the singers, the temple servants, and all who had separated themselves from the peoples of the lands to the law of God—their wives, their sons, and their daughters, everyone who knew and understood—

30They join with their brothers, their nobles, and enter into a curse and an oath, to walk in the law of God, which was given by the hand of Moses the servant of God, and to keep and to do all the commandments of Yahweh our Lord, and his judgments and his statutes.

31and that we will not give our daughters to the peoples of the land, nor take their daughters for our sons.

32As for the peoples of the land who bring goods and any grain on the Sabbath day to sell, we will not buy from them on the Sabbath or on a holy day; and we will forego the seventh year and every debt.

33We also laid on ourselves the obligation to give yearly a third of a shekel for the service of the house of our God.

34for the bread of the arrangement, and for the regular grain offering, and for the regular burnt offering, for the Sabbaths, the new moons, the appointed times, and the holy things, and for the sin offerings to make atonement for Israel, and for all the work of the house of our God.

35We cast lots concerning the wood offering—the priests, the Levites, and the people—to bring it to the house of our God, according to our fathers’ houses, at appointed times year by year, to burn on the altar of Yahweh our God, as it is written in the Law.

36and to bring the firstfruits of our land and the firstfruits of all the fruit of every tree, year by year, to the house of Yahweh,

37and the firstborn of our sons and of our livestock, as it is written in the Law, and the firstborn of our herds and of our flocks, to bring to the house of our God, to the priests who minister in the house of our God.

38And we will bring the first of our dough, our contributions, the fruit of every tree, the new wine, and the oil to the priests, to the chambers of the house of our God, and the tithe of our land to the Levites; for they, the Levites, are the ones who collect the tithes in all the cities where we labor.

39And the priest, a son of Aaron, shall be with the Levites when the Levites collect the tithe, and the Levites shall bring up the tithe of the tithe to the house of our God, to the chambers of the storehouse.

40For the sons of Israel and the sons of Levi will bring the contribution of the grain, the new wine, and the oil to the chambers, where the vessels of the sanctuary are, and the priests who minister, and the gatekeepers, and the singers. And we will not neglect the house of our God.
