Nehemiah 11

1The officials of the people lived in Jerusalem, and the rest of the people cast lots to bring one out of ten to live in Jerusalem, the holy city, while nine parts remained in the towns.

2And the people blessed all the men who willingly offered themselves to live in Jerusalem.

3These are the heads of the province who lived in Jerusalem. But in the cities of Judah, each man lived in his own possession in their cities: Israel, the priests, the Levites, the temple servants, and the descendants of Solomon’s servants.

4And in Jerusalem there lived some of the sons of Judah and some of the sons of Benjamin. Of the sons of Judah: Athaiah son of Uzziah, son of Zechariah, son of Amariah, son of Shephatiah, son of Mahalalel, of the sons of Perez.

5and Maaseiah son of Baruch, son of Col-hozeh, son of Hazaiah, son of Adaiah, son of Joiarib, son of Zechariah, son of the Shilonite.

6All the sons of Perez who lived in Jerusalem were four hundred sixty-eight valiant men.

7And these were the sons of Benjamin: Sallu son of Meshullam, son of Joed, son of Pedaiah, son of Kolaiah, son of Maaseiah, son of Ithiel, son of Jeshaiah.

8And after him were Gabbai and Sallai: nine hundred twenty-eight.

9And Joel son of Zichri was overseer over them, and Judah son of Hassenuah was second over the city.

10From the priests: Jedaiah son of Joiarib, Jakin.

11Seraiah son of Hilkiah, son of Meshullam, son of Zadok, son of Meraioth, son of Ahitub, leader of the house of God.

12And their brothers, doers of the work for the house, were eight hundred twenty-two; and Adaiah son of Jeroham, son of Pelaliah, son of Amzi, son of Zechariah, son of Pashhur, son of Malchijah.

13and his brothers, heads of fathers’ houses, 242; and Amashsai son of Azarel, son of Ahzai, son of Meshillemoth, son of Immer.

14And their brothers, mighty men of valor, were one hundred twenty-eight; and the overseer over them was Zabdiel son of Haggedolim.

15And from the Levites: Shemaiah son of Hasshub, son of Azrikam, son of Hashabiah, son of Bunni.

16And Shabbethai and Jozabad, from the heads of the Levites, were over the outside work of the house of God.

17And Mattaniah son of Micah, son of Zabdi, son of Asaph, was the head, who began the thanksgiving in prayer; and Bakbukiah was second among his brothers; and Abda son of Shammua, son of Galal, son of Jeduthun.

18All the Levites in the holy city were two hundred eighty-four.

19And the gatekeepers: Akkub, Talmon, and their brothers who kept watch at the gates, were one hundred seventy-two.

20And the rest of Israel, the priests, and the Levites were in all the cities of Judah, each in his inheritance.

21And the temple servants were living on the Ophel, and Ziha and Gishpa were over the temple servants.

22And the overseer of the Levites in Jerusalem was Uzzi son of Bani, son of Hashabiah, son of Mattaniah, son of Mica, from the sons of Asaph, the singers, over the work of the house of God.

23For the king’s command was upon them, and a fixed provision for the singers, each day’s matter on its day.

24And Pethahiah son of Meshezabel, from the sons of Zerah son of Judah, was at the king’s side for every matter concerning the people.

25As for the villages in their fields, some of the sons of Judah lived in Kiriath-arba and its villages, and in Dibon and its villages, and in Jekabzeel and its settlements.

26and in Jeshua, and in Moladah, and in Beth-pelet;

27and in Hazar-shual, and in Beer-sheba and its villages.

28and in Ziklag, and in Mekonah and its daughter villages.

29and in En-rimmon, and in Zorah, and in Jarmuth.

30Zanoah, Adullam and their villages, Lachish and its fields, Azekah and its daughter towns. So they camped from Beer-sheba as far as the Valley of Hinnom.

31And the sons of Benjamin were from Geba, Michmash, Aijah, and Bethel and its villages.

32Anathoth, Nob, Ananiah.

33Hazor, Ramah, Gittaim;

34Hadid, Zeboim, Neballat.

35Lod and Ono, the Valley of the Craftsmen.

36And from the Levites, divisions in Judah belonged to Benjamin.
