Numbers 2

1And Yahweh spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying,

2The sons of Israel shall camp, each man by his banner, according to the signs of their fathers’ houses; they shall camp facing the tent of meeting, all around it.

3Those who camp on the east side, toward the sunrise, shall be the banner of the camp of Judah by their divisions; and the leader of the sons of Judah shall be Nahshon son of Amminadab.

4and his division, those numbered from them: seventy-four thousand six hundred.

5Those camping next to it are the tribe of Issachar, and the leader of the sons of Issachar is Nethanel son of Zuar.

6and his division, and those counted from it: fifty-four thousand four hundred.

7The tribe of Zebulun, and the leader of the sons of Zebulun: Eliab son of Helon.

8And his company, even those numbered of it, were fifty-seven thousand four hundred.

9All those counted for the camp of Judah were 186,400 by their divisions. They shall set out first.

10The banner of the camp of Reuben shall be on the south, by their divisions; and the leader of the sons of Reuben shall be Elizur son of Shedeur.

11And his company, even those numbered from it, was forty-six thousand five hundred.

12Those camping next to him are the tribe of Simeon, and the leader of the sons of Simeon is Shelumiel son of Zurishaddai.

13and his division, those numbered from them: fifty-nine thousand three hundred.

14And the tribe of Gad, and the leader of the sons of Gad: Eliasaph son of Reuel.

15and his company, even those numbered from them: forty-five thousand six hundred and fifty.

16All those counted for the camp of Reuben were 151,450 by their companies. They shall set out second.

17Then the tent of meeting shall set out, with the camp of the Levites in the midst of the camps. Just as they camp, so they shall set out, each in his place by their banners.

18The banner of the camp of Ephraim, by their divisions, shall be on the west; and the leader of the sons of Ephraim shall be Elishama son of Ammihud.

19And his division, those numbered from them: forty thousand and five hundred.

20And next to him was the tribe of Manasseh, and the leader of the sons of Manasseh was Gamaliel son of Pedahzur.

21and his division, those numbered from them: thirty-two thousand two hundred.

22And the tribe of Benjamin; the leader of the sons of Benjamin was Abidan son of Gideoni.

23and his company, even those numbered from them, was thirty-five thousand four hundred.

24All those counted for the camp of Ephraim were 108,100 by their divisions. They shall set out third.

25The banner of the camp of Dan shall be on the north by their divisions; and the leader of the sons of Dan shall be Ahiezer son of Ammishaddai.

26and his division, those numbered from them: sixty-two thousand seven hundred.

27Those camping next to it: the tribe of Asher, and the leader of the sons of Asher, Pagiel son of Ocran.

28And his company, those numbered from them: forty-one thousand five hundred.

29And the tribe of Naphtali, and the leader of the sons of Naphtali: Ahira son of Enan.

30and his company, even those numbered of them: fifty-three thousand four hundred.

31All those counted for the camp of Dan were 157,600. They shall set out last by their standards.

32These are the numbered men of the sons of Israel by their fathers’ houses. All the numbered men of the camps by their divisions were six hundred three thousand five hundred fifty.

33But the Levites were not counted among the sons of Israel, as Yahweh had commanded Moses.

34So the sons of Israel did according to all that Yahweh had commanded Moses: so they camped by their standards, and so they set out, each by his clans, according to his fathers’ house.
