Psalms 104

LORD Creates Provides Renewals

Bless Yahweh, O my soul! Yahweh my God, you are very great; you have clothed yourself with splendor and majesty.

covering yourself with light as with a garment, stretching out the heavens like a curtain.

who lays the beams of his upper chambers on the waters, who makes the clouds his chariot, who walks on the wings of the wind.

He makes winds his messengers, a flaming fire his ministers.

He founded the earth on its foundations; it will not be shaken forever and ever.

You covered it with the deep as with a garment; the waters stood above the mountains.

At your rebuke they fled; at the sound of your thunder they hurried away.

The mountains rose, the valleys sank down, to the place that you established for them.

You set a boundary they may not cross; they may not return to cover the earth.

He sends springs into the valleys; they flow between the mountains.

They give drink to every beast of the field; the wild donkeys quench their thirst.

Above them the birds of the sky dwell; from among the branches they call out.

He waters the mountains from his upper chambers; the earth is satisfied with the fruit of your works.

He causes grass to grow for livestock, and plants for human cultivation, to bring forth bread from the earth,

and wine that gladdens the human heart, oil that makes the face shine, and bread that sustains the human heart.

The trees of Yahweh are filled, the cedars of Lebanon that he planted,

where the birds make their nests; the stork has its home in the conifers.

The high mountains are for the wild goats; the rocks are a refuge for the hyraxes.

He made the moon for appointed times; the sun knows its setting.

You bring darkness, and it becomes night; in it all the animals of the forest move about.

The young lions roar for prey, seeking their food from God.

The sun rises; they withdraw and lie down in their dens.

Man goes out to his work and to his labor until evening.

How many are your works, O Yahweh! In wisdom you have made them all; the earth is full of your possessions.

There is the sea, great and wide; there are swarming things without number, living creatures both small and great.

There the ships move about, and Leviathan, whom you formed to play in it.

All of them wait for you to give them their food at the proper time.

You give to them, and they gather it; you open your hand, and they are satisfied with good things.

When you hide your face, they are terrified; when you take away their breath, they die and return to their dust.

When you send out your Spirit, they are created, and you renew the face of the ground.

May the glory of Yahweh endure forever; may Yahweh rejoice in his works.

He looks at the earth, and it trembles; he touches the mountains, and they smoke.

I will sing to Yahweh as long as I live; I will make music to my God while I still live.

May my meditation be pleasing to him; I will rejoice in Yahweh.

May sinners disappear from the earth, and may the wicked be no more. Bless Yahweh, O my soul. Hallelujah!
