Psalms 14

For the choir director. Of David.

1The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt; they do abominable deeds. There is no one who does good.

2Yahweh looks down from heaven on the children of man to see whether there is one who has insight, one who seeks God.

3All have turned aside; together they have become corrupt. There is none who does good, not even one.

4Do not all the workers of wickedness know—those who eat up my people as they eat bread, and do not call on Yahweh?

5There they were in great dread, for God is with the generation of the righteous.

6You put the counsel of the poor to shame, for Yahweh is his refuge.

7Oh, that Israel’s salvation would come from Zion! When Yahweh restores the fortunes of his people, Jacob will rejoice; Israel will be glad.
