Psalms 144

David Prays for Protection

Open in the reader →

Of David.

1Blessed be Yahweh, my rock, who trains my hands for battle, my fingers for war.

2My steadfast love and my fortress, my stronghold and my deliverer, my shield, in whom I take refuge, who subdues my people under me.

3Yahweh, what is man that you know him, the son of man that you think of him?

4Man is like a breath; his days are like a passing shadow.

5Yahweh, bend your heavens and come down; touch the mountains, and they will smoke.

6Flash forth lightning and scatter them; send out your arrows and throw them into confusion.

7Stretch out your hand from on high; rescue me and deliver me from many waters, from the hand of foreigners.

8whose mouth speaks falsehood, and whose right hand is a right hand of deceit.

9God, I will sing a new song to you; on a ten-stringed instrument I will make music to you.

10the one who gives salvation to kings, who rescues David his servant from the deadly sword.

11Rescue me and deliver me from the hand of foreigners, whose mouth speaks falsehood and whose right hand is a right hand of deceit.

12May our sons be like well-grown plants in their youth, and our daughters like corner pillars carved in the pattern of a palace.

13May our storehouses be full, supplying every kind of produce; may our flocks multiply by thousands, by tens of thousands, in our open spaces.

14Our oxen are heavily laden; there is no breach, no one carried away, and no cry in our streets.

15Blessed are the people for whom it is so; blessed are the people whose God is Yahweh.
