Psalms 2
God Laughs at Rebel Kings
Open in the reader →1Why do the nations rage, and the peoples plot in vain?
2The kings of the earth take their stand, and rulers gather together against Yahweh and against his anointed one.
3Let us tear off their chains and throw their ropes away from us.
4The one who sits in the heavens laughs; the Lord mocks them.
5Then he will speak to them in his anger, and in his burning wrath he will terrify them.
6But as for me, I have installed my king on Zion, my holy mountain.
7I will declare the decree of Yahweh: He said to me, “You are my Son; today I have begotten you.”
8Ask of me, and I will give the nations as your inheritance, and the ends of the earth as your possession.
9You will break them with an iron scepter; like a potter’s vessel you will shatter them.
10So now, O kings, be wise; be warned, O judges of the earth.
11Serve Yahweh with fear, and rejoice with trembling.
12Kiss the son, lest he be angry and you perish in the way, for his anger burns quickly. Blessed are all who take refuge in him.
