Psalms 21

For the choirmaster. A psalm of David.

1O Yahweh, in your strength the king rejoices, and in your salvation how greatly he exults!

2You have given him his heart’s desire, and you have not withheld the request of his lips. Selah

3For you meet him with blessings of good things; you set a crown of fine gold on his head.

4He asked you for life; you gave it to him—length of days forever and ever.

5Great is his glory through your salvation; you bestow splendor and majesty on him.

6For you make him most blessed forever; you gladden him with joy in your presence.

7For the king trusts in Yahweh, and through the steadfast love of the Most High he will not be shaken.

8Your hand will find all your enemies; your right hand will find those who hate you.

9You will make them like a fiery furnace when you appear; Yahweh in his anger will swallow them up, and fire will consume them.

10You will destroy their fruit from the earth, and their offspring from among humanity.

11For they intended evil against you; they devised a scheme, but they could not carry it out.

12For you will make them turn their backs; with your bowstrings you will aim at their faces.

13Be exalted, O Yahweh, in your strength! We will sing and make music of your might.
