Psalms 28

Of David.

1To you, O Yahweh, I call; my rock, do not be deaf to me, lest you be silent to me and I become like those who go down to the pit.

2Hear the voice of my pleas for mercy when I cry to you, when I lift up my hands toward your holy inner sanctuary.

3Do not drag me away with the wicked, with those who work evil, who speak peace with their neighbors while evil is in their hearts.

4Give to them according to their work, and according to the evil of their deeds; according to the work of their hands give to them; repay them their due.

5Because they pay no attention to the works of Yahweh or the work of his hands, he will tear them down and not build them up.

6Blessed be Yahweh, for he has heard the voice of my pleas for mercy.

7Yahweh is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusted, and I was helped. So my heart rejoiced, and with my song I will praise him.

8Yahweh is strength for them, and he is a stronghold of salvation for his anointed one.

9Save your people and bless your inheritance; shepherd them and carry them forever.
