Psalms 32

Of David. A Maskil.

1Blessed is the one whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.

2Blessed is the person to whom Yahweh does not count iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no deceit.

3For when I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long.

4For day and night your hand was heavy upon me; my vitality was dried up as by the heat of summer. Selah

5I made my sin known to you, and I did not cover my iniquity. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to Yahweh,” and you forgave the guilt of my sin. Selah

6Therefore let every godly one pray to you at a time when you may be found; surely when the great floodwaters come, they will not reach him.

7You are my hiding place; you preserve me from distress; you surround me with shouts of deliverance. Selah

8I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you.

9Do not be like a horse or a mule, without understanding, whose trappings—bit and bridle—are for restraint; otherwise it will not come near you.

10Many pains belong to the wicked, but steadfast love surrounds the one who trusts in Yahweh.

11Be glad in Yahweh and rejoice, you righteous; shout for joy, all you upright in heart.
