Psalms 52

For the choirmaster. A Maskil of David.

1when Doeg the Edomite came and told Saul, saying to him, “David has come to the house of Ahimelech.”

2Why do you boast in evil, mighty man? The steadfast love of God endures all day long.

3Your tongue devises destruction, like a sharpened razor, you who practice deceit.

4You have loved evil more than good, falsehood more than speaking what is right. Selah

5You love every devouring word, you deceitful tongue.

6But God will also tear you down forever; he will snatch you up and pull you from your tent, and uproot you from the land of the living. Selah

7The righteous will see and fear, and they will laugh at him:

8Look, this is the man who did not make God his refuge, but trusted in the abundance of his riches and grew strong in his wicked desire.

9But as for me, I am like a flourishing olive tree in the house of God; I trust in the steadfast love of God forever and ever.

10I will give thanks to you forever, because you have done it; I will hope in your name, for it is good, in the presence of your faithful ones.
