David Cries to God’s Mercy

Open in the reader →

For the choirmaster: with stringed instruments, according to the Sheminith. A psalm of David.

1O Yahweh, do not rebuke me in your anger, and do not discipline me in your wrath.

2Be gracious to me, O Yahweh, for I am weak; heal me, O Yahweh, for my bones are troubled.

3And my soul is greatly troubled—but you, O Yahweh, how long?

4Return, O Yahweh; rescue my life; save me for the sake of your steadfast love.

5For in death there is no remembrance of you; in Sheol who will give thanks to you?

6I am weary with my groaning; every night I drench my bed; with my tears I soak my couch.

7My eye has wasted away from grief; it has grown old because of all my enemies.

8Depart from me, all you workers of wickedness, for Yahweh has heard the sound of my weeping.

9Yahweh has heard my plea; Yahweh will receive my prayer.

10Let all my enemies be ashamed and greatly dismayed; let them turn back and be ashamed in an instant.
