Psalms 7
David Pleads for Upright Judge
Open in the reader →A Shiggaion of David, which he sang to Yahweh concerning the words of Cush, a Benjaminite.
O Yahweh my God, in you I have taken refuge; save me from all who pursue me, and deliver me.
lest he tear my life like a lion, ripping it apart with no one to rescue.
O Yahweh my God, if I have done this, if there is injustice in my hands—
if I have repaid the one at peace with me with evil, though I rescued my adversary without cause—
let the enemy pursue my life and overtake it; let him trample my life to the ground and make my glory dwell in the dust. Selah
Rise up, O Yahweh, in your anger; lift yourself up against the fury of my enemies; awake for me; you have commanded judgment.
Let the assembly of peoples surround you; return on high above it.
Yahweh judges the peoples; judge me, O Yahweh, according to my righteousness and to the integrity that is in me.
Please let the evil of the wicked come to an end, but establish the righteous—O righteous God who examines hearts and kidneys.
God is my shield; he saves the upright in heart.
God is a righteous judge, and a God who is indignant every day.
If he does not turn back, he will sharpen his sword; he has bent his bow and made it ready.
And for him he has prepared weapons of death; he makes his arrows fiery.
Look: he labors with wickedness, conceives trouble, and gives birth to falsehood.
He dug a pit and hollowed it out, and he fell into the hole he made.
His trouble returns on his own head, and his violence comes down on the top of his own head.
I will give thanks to Yahweh according to his righteousness, and I will sing praise to the name of Yahweh Most High.
