Psalms 64

For the choir director. A psalm of David.

1Hear, O God, my voice in my complaint; preserve my life from the fear of the enemy.

2Hide me from the secret counsel of evildoers, from the tumult of those who do wrong.

3who sharpen their tongue like a sword; they aim their arrow—a bitter word—

4to shoot at the blameless from hiding places; suddenly they shoot at him and do not fear.

5They bolster an evil plan for themselves; they talk of hiding snares; they say, “Who will see them?”

6They devise injustices: “We have perfected a carefully devised plot.” A person’s inner self and heart are deep.

7But God shoots an arrow at them; suddenly they are wounded.

8They are made to stumble; their own tongue is against them; all who see them shake their heads.

9Then everyone will fear, and they will declare the work of God; they will understand what he has done.

10The righteous will rejoice in Yahweh and take refuge in him, and all the upright in heart will glory.
