Psalms 76

For the choirmaster; with stringed instruments. A psalm of Asaph, a song.

1God is known in Judah; his name is great in Israel.

2His shelter was in Salem, and his dwelling place in Zion.

3There he shattered the arrows of the bow, shield and sword and battle. Selah

4You are radiant, more majestic than the mountains of prey.

5The stouthearted were plundered; they slept their sleep, and none of the men of valor could use their hands.

6At your rebuke, O God of Jacob, both chariot and horse were cast into a deep sleep.

7You—you are to be feared; and who can stand before you once you are angry?

8From heaven you made judgment heard; the earth feared and was quiet.

9when God rises for judgment, to save all the humble of the earth. Selah

10For human wrath will praise you; you will gird yourself with the remaining wrath.

11Make vows to Yahweh your God and fulfill them; let all who are around him bring tribute to the Fearsome One.

12He cuts down the spirit of rulers; he is fearsome to the kings of the earth.
