Revelation 2

Jesus Speaks to Seven Churches

Open in the reader →

To the angel of the church in Ephesus write: These things says the one who holds the seven stars in his right hand, who walks among the seven golden lampstands:

I know your works, your labor, and your endurance, and that you cannot tolerate evil people. You tested those who call themselves apostles and are not, and you found them to be false.

And you have endurance, and have borne up for my name, and have not grown weary.

But I have this against you: you have abandoned your first love.

Therefore remember from where you have fallen, and repent, and do the works you did at first. But if not, I am coming to you, and I will remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent.

But this you have: you hate the works of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate.

The one who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who conquers I will give to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.

And to the angel of the church in Smyrna write: These things says the First and the Last, who became dead and lived again:

I know your affliction and your poverty—but you are rich—and the slander of those who say that they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan.

Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Look, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison so that you may be tested, and you will have tribulation for ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.

The one who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. The one who conquers will certainly not be harmed by the second death.

And to the angel of the church in Pergamum write: These things says the one who has the sharp, double-edged sword:

I know where you live—where Satan’s throne is. Yet you hold fast my name, and you did not deny faith in me, even in the days of Antipas, my witness, my faithful one, who was killed among you, where Satan lives.

But I have a few things against you: you have there some who hold to the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to put a stumbling block before the sons of Israel, to eat food sacrificed to idols and to commit sexual immorality.

So you also have those who hold to the teaching of the Nicolaitans likewise.

Therefore repent. But if not, I am coming to you quickly, and I will make war against them with the sword of my mouth.

The one who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who conquers I will give some of the hidden manna, and I will give him a white stone, and a new name written on it, which no one knows except the one who receives it.

And to the angel of the church in Thyatira write: These things says the Son of God, the one who has his eyes like a flame of fire, and his feet like burnished bronze:

I know your works, your love and faith and service and endurance, and that your last works are more than the first.

But I have this against you: you tolerate the woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess and teaches and deceives my servants to commit sexual immorality and to eat food sacrificed to idols.

And I gave her time to repent, but she is not willing to repent of her sexual immorality.

Look, I am throwing her onto a bed, and those who commit adultery with her into great affliction, unless they repent of her works.

And I will kill her children with death, and all the churches will know that I am the one who searches hearts and minds, and I will give to each of you according to your works.

But to the rest of you in Thyatira I say: all who do not hold this teaching, who have not known the deep things of Satan, as they call them—I am not laying any other burden on you.

Nevertheless, hold fast what you have until I come.

And to the one who conquers and keeps my works until the end, I will give authority over the nations,

and he will shepherd them with an iron rod, as clay vessels are shattered,

just as I also have received from my Father, and I will give him the morning star.

The one who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.
