Testament of Naphtali 5

1And being brought low, you will turn back and acknowledge the Lord your God, and he will bring you back into your land according to his great mercy. 4 And it shall come to pass, when they go out into the land of their fathers, again they will forget the Lord and act impiously. 5 And the Lord will scatter them upon the face of all the earth, until the compassion of the Lord shall come, a man working righteousness and showing mercy to all who are far off and to those who are near.

2V. For in the fortieth year of my life, I saw a vision on the Mount of Olives, east of Jerusalem, that the sun and the moon were standing still. 2 And behold, Isaac, the father of my father, said to us, “Run up, and let each of you seize according to his strength; and the one who takes hold shall have the sun and the moon.”

3And we all ran together, and Levi seized the sun, and Judah, arriving first, took hold of the moon; and both of them were lifted up with them.

4And while Levi was like the sun, behold, a certain young man gives him twelve palm branches; and Judah became bright like the moon, and beneath their feet were twelve rays.

5And the two, Levi and Judah, ran up and seized them.

6And behold, a bull was on the earth, having two great horns and the wings of an eagle on its back; and though we wanted to seize it, we were not able.

7But Joseph came and seized him, and went up with him to the height.

8And I saw that I was there, and behold, a holy writing appeared to us, saying, “Assyrians, Medes, Persians, Chaldeans, Syrians shall inherit in captivity the twelve sceptres of Israel.”
