Testament of Naphtali 6

Storm Scatters Jacob's Family

Open in the reader →

1And again, after seven days, I saw that my father Jacob was standing by the sea of Amnia, and we were with him.

2And behold, a ship was coming, sailing beside us, with sailors and pilots. And on the ship was written this: “Jacob’s ship.”

3And our father said to us, “Come, let us go up into our ship.”

4And when we had entered, a violent storm arose, and a whirlwind of wind; and our father withdrew from us, holding the rudders.

5And we, being storm-tossed on the sea, were being driven over the waters, and the ship was filled and battered in the storms, so that it was in danger of breaking apart.

6But Joseph went away on a small boat, and we were separated on nine planks; and Levi and Judah were together.

7And we were scattered, all of us, to the ends of the earth.

8But Levi, clothed in sackcloth, prayed to the Lord.

9And when the winter ceased, the ship came to the land, as it were in peace.

10And behold, our father came, and we all rejoiced together with one accord.
