Tobit 10

1And Tobit his father counted each day; and when the days of the journey were completed and they were not coming back,

2he said, “Could it be that he has been delayed? Or could it be that Gabael has died, and no one is giving him the money?”

3And he was very grieved.

4Then his wife said to him, “The child has perished, because he has been delayed.” And she began to mourn for him and said,

5Do I not care, child, that I have let you go, the light of my eyes?

6And Tobit said to her, “Be quiet; do not be anxious. Be well.”

7And she said to him, “Be quiet; do not mislead me. My child has perished.” And every day she would go out to the road by which he had departed, and by day she would eat no bread, and at night she did not cease mourning for Tobias her son, until the fourteen days of the wedding feast were completed, which Raguel had sworn that he should spend there.

8Then Tobias said to Raguel, “Send me away, because my father and my mother no longer expect to see me.”

9Then his father-in-law said to him, “Stay with me, and I will send word to your father, and they will make known to him the things concerning you.”

10And Tobias said, “Send me away to my father.”

11Then Raguel rose and gave him Sarah his wife, and half of his possessions—servants and livestock and silver—and after blessing them he sent them away, saying, “May the God of heaven prosper you, children, before I die.”

12And he said to his daughter, “Honor your parents-in-law; they are now your parents. May I hear a good report about you.” And he kissed her. And Edna said to Tobiah, “Beloved brother, may the Lord of heaven restore you, and may he grant me to see children from you and from Sarah my daughter, so that I may rejoice before the Lord. And look, I entrust my daughter to you as a deposit; do not grieve her.”

13After these things Tobiah also went on his way, blessing God because he had made his journey successful, and he kept blessing Raguel and Edna his wife. And he went on until they came near to Nineveh.
