Tobit 11

1After these things, Tobiah also went on his way, blessing God because he had made his journey successful, and he kept blessing Raguel and Edna his wife. And he went on until they came near to Nineveh.

2And Raphael said to Tobiah, “Do you not know, brother, how you left your father?”

3Let us run on ahead of your wife and prepare the house.

4But take the fish’s gall in your hand. And they went on, and the dog came along behind them.

5And Anna sat watching the road for her son,

6And she noticed him coming and said to his father, “Look, my son is coming, and the man who went with him.”

7And Raphael said, “I know that your father will open his eyes.”

8You shall anoint his eyes with the gall, and when it stings, he will rub them, and the white films will come away, and he will see you.

9And Anna ran up and fell on the neck of her son, and said to him, “I have seen you, child.”

10“From now on I can die.” And both of them wept. Then Tobit went out toward the door and stumbled, but his son ran to him,

11And he took hold of his father and applied the gall to his father’s eyes, saying,

12Take courage, father. Then, when they had come together, he rubbed his eyes,

13and the white films peeled away from the corners of his eyes. And when he saw his son, he fell on his neck,

14And she wept and said, “Blessed are you, O God, and blessed is your name forever, and blessed are all your holy angels,”

15because you afflicted me and had mercy on me. Behold, I see Tobiah my son. And his son entered rejoicing, and reported to his father the great things that had happened to him in Media.

16And Tobit went out to meet his daughter-in-law, rejoicing and blessing God, at the gate of Nineveh. And those who saw him walking were amazed, because he could see.

17And Tobit gave thanks before them that God had shown them mercy. And when Tobit came near to Sarah his daughter-in-law, he blessed her, saying, “May you come in good health, daughter. Blessed is God, who has brought you to us, and your father and your mother.”

18And there was joy for all his brothers in Nineveh. And Ahikar came, and Nasbas his cousin,

19And Tobiah’s wedding was celebrated with rejoicing for seven days.
