Tobit 12

1Then Tobit called Tobias his son and said to him, “See, child, wages must be given to the man who went with you, and more must be added for him.”

2And he said, “Father, I lose nothing by giving him half of what I have brought back.”

3because he brought me back to you healthy, and he healed my wife and brought back my money, and he likewise healed you.

4And the elder said, “It is justified for him.”

5And he called the angel and said to him, “Take half of everything that”

6And calling the two of them privately, he said to them, “Bless God and give thanks to him; give him greatness, and give thanks to him before all the living for what he has done with you. It is good to bless God and to exalt his name, showing forth with honor the words of the works of God; and do not be reluctant

7Do not hesitate to acknowledge him. It is good to conceal a king’s secret, but to reveal the works of God gloriously. Do what is good, and evil will not find you.

8Prayer with fasting, almsgiving, and righteousness is good; a little with righteousness is better than much with unrighteousness. It is good to do almsgiving rather than to store up gold.

9Almsgiving rescues from death, and it will cleanse away every sin. Those who do acts of almsgiving and righteousness will be filled with life.

10But those who sin are enemies of their own life.

11I will certainly not hide any word from you. I have indeed said, ‘It is good to hide a king’s secret, but to reveal the works of God gloriously.’

12And now, when you and your bride Sarah were praying, I brought the memorial of your prayer before the Holy One. And when you were burying the dead, I likewise was with you.

13And when you did not hesitate to rise and leave your meal so that you might go and wrap the dead man, your doing good did not escape me, but I was with you.

14And now God has sent me to heal you and Sarah your bride.

15I am Raphael, one of the seven holy angels who present the prayers of the holy ones and enter before the glory of the Holy One.

16And the two were shaken, and they fell facedown, because they were afraid.

17And he said to them, “Do not be afraid; peace be with you. But bless God forever.”

18For it was not by my own favor, but by the will of your God. Therefore bless him forever.

19All the days I was appearing to you, but I neither ate nor drank; rather, you were seeing a vision.

20And now give thanks to God, because I am ascending to the one who sent me; and write all that has been accomplished in a book.

21And they stood up, and they did not see him.

22And they acknowledged his great and wondrous works, because an angel of the Lord had appeared to them.
