Tobit 7

1And he came to Ecbatana and arrived at the house of Raguel, and Sarah also met him. She greeted him, and he greeted them, and he brought them into the house.

2And Edna said to his wife, “How much the young man Tobit resembles my nephew!”

3And Raguel asked them, “Where are you from, brothers?” And they said to him, “We are from the sons of Naphtali, the captives from Nineveh.”

4And he said to them, “Do you know Tobit our brother?”

5They said, “He is alive and well.” And Tobiah said, “He is my father.”

6And Raguel sprang up, kissed him warmly, and wept.

7And he said to him, “He is the son of a noble and good man.” And when he heard that Tobit had lost his eyes, he was grieved and wept.

8And Edna his wife and Sarah his daughter wept, and they welcomed them eagerly.

9And they slaughtered a ram from the flock and set out many dishes. Then Tobiah said to Raphael, “Azariah, brother, speak about the matter you were talking about on the journey, and let the matter be brought to completion.”

10And he conveyed the matter to Raguel. And Raguel said to Tobiah, “Eat, drink, and be glad, for it is fitting for you to take my child; but I will explain the truth.”

11I gave my child to seven men, and whenever they went in to her, they died during the night. But for now, be cheerful. And Tobiah said, “I will taste nothing here until you settle and conclude the matter with me.”

12And Raguel said, “Take her from now on according to the judgment. You are her brother, and she is yours. And may the merciful God prosper what is best for you.”

13And he called Sarah his daughter, and taking her by the hand he gave her to Tobiah as a wife, and he said, “See, according to the law of Moses, take her and bring her to your father.” And he blessed them.

14And he called Edna his wife, and taking a document, he wrote out a marriage contract, and they sealed it.

15And they began to eat. Then Raguel called Edna his wife and said to her, “Sister, prepare the other room and bring her in.”

16And he did as he said and brought her in there, and she wept. Then he received the tears of his daughter and said to her,

17Take courage, child; may the Lord of heaven and earth grant you favor instead of this sorrow of yours. Take courage, daughter.

18And Raguel called Edna his wife and said to her, “Sister, prepare the other chamber and bring her in there.”
