Zechariah 14

LORD Fights for Jerusalem

Open in the reader →

Behold, a day is coming for Yahweh, when your plunder will be divided in your midst.

And I will gather all the nations against Jerusalem for battle, and the city will be captured, and the houses plundered, and the women raped, and half of the city will go out into exile; but the rest of the people will not be cut off from the city.

Then Yahweh will go out and fight against those nations, as when he fights in a day of battle.

On that day his feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east; and the Mount of Olives will be split in two from east to west into a very great valley, with half of the mountain moving northward and half of it southward.

And you will flee by the valley of my mountains, for the valley of the mountains will reach to Azal. Yes, you will flee as you fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah. Then Yahweh my God will come, and all the holy ones with him.

And it will happen on that day: there will be no light; the glorious ones will congeal.

And it will be one day, known to Yahweh, neither day nor night; but at evening time there will be light.

And on that day living waters will flow out from Jerusalem, half of them to the eastern sea and half of them to the western sea; it will be so in summer as well as in winter.

And Yahweh will be king over all the earth. On that day Yahweh will be one, and his name one.

All the land will be turned into a plain, from Geba to Rimmon south of Jerusalem. But Jerusalem will be raised up and will remain in its place, from the Benjamin Gate to the place of the First Gate, to the Corner Gate, and from the Tower of Hananel to the king’s winepresses.

And they will dwell in it, and there will no longer be anything devoted to destruction, and Jerusalem will dwell securely.

And this will be the plague with which Yahweh will strike all the peoples that wage war against Jerusalem: while he is standing on his feet, his flesh will rot away, his eyes will rot away in their sockets, and his tongue will rot away in his mouth.

And on that day a great panic from Yahweh will be among them, and each man will seize the hand of his neighbor, and his hand will rise against the hand of his neighbor.

And Judah also will fight at Jerusalem, and the wealth of all the surrounding nations will be gathered: gold and silver and garments, in very great abundance.

And so the plague will be on the horse, the mule, the camel, the donkey, and every animal that is in those camps—the same plague as this.

Then all who remain from all the nations that came against Jerusalem shall go up year after year to worship the King, Yahweh of Armies, and to celebrate the Feast of Booths.

And if any of the families of the earth does not go up to Jerusalem to worship the King, Yahweh of Armies, there will be no rain on them.

And if the family of Egypt does not go up and does not come, then the plague will not be upon them—the plague with which Yahweh strikes the nations that do not go up to celebrate the Feast of Booths.

This will be the punishment of Egypt, and the punishment of all the nations that do not go up to celebrate the Festival of Booths.

On that day, there will be on the bells of the horses, “Holy to Yahweh,” and the pots in the house of Yahweh will be like the bowls before the altar.

And every pot in Jerusalem and in Judah will be holy to Yahweh of hosts, and all who sacrifice will come and take from them and boil in them. And there will no longer be a Canaanite in the house of Yahweh of hosts on that day.
