Zechariah 13
Land Cleansed from Sin
Open in the reader →1On that day a fountain will be opened for the house of David and for the inhabitants of Jerusalem, for sin and for impurity.
2And it shall happen in that day, declares Yahweh of hosts, that I will cut off the names of the idols from the land, and they shall be remembered no more. And also I will remove from the land the prophets and the unclean spirit.
3And it will happen that if a man still prophesies, his father and his mother who bore him will say to him, ‘You shall not live, because you have spoken lies in the name of Yahweh’; and his father and his mother who bore him will pierce him through when he prophesies.
4And on that day the prophets will each be ashamed of his vision when he prophesies, and they will not put on a hairy cloak in order to deceive.
5And he will say, ‘I am not a prophet; I am a man who works the ground, for the land has been my possession from my youth.’
6And if one says to him, “What are these wounds between your hands?” he will say, “Those with which I was wounded in the house of those who love me.”
7Awake, O sword, against my shepherd, against the man who is my companion, declares Yahweh of Armies. Strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered; and I will turn my hand against the little ones.
8And it will happen in all the land, declares the LORD, that two-thirds in it will be cut off and die, but one-third will be left in it.
9And I will bring the third part through the fire, and I will refine them as silver is refined, and test them as gold is tested. He will call on my name, and I will answer him. I will say, ‘He is my people,’ and he will say, ‘Yahweh is my God.’
