Zechariah 5

Wickedness Removed from Land

Open in the reader →

1Then I turned and lifted my eyes and saw, and behold, a flying scroll.

2And he said to me, “What do you see?” And I said, “I see a flying scroll. Its length is twenty cubits, and its width is ten cubits.”

3Then he said to me, “This is the curse that goes out over the face of the whole land, for everyone who steals will be purged away according to what is written on this side of it, and everyone who swears falsely will be purged away according to what is written on that side of it.”

4I have sent it out, declares Yahweh of hosts, and it will enter the house of the thief and the house of the one who swears falsely by my name, and it will remain within his house and consume it, both its timber and its stones.

5Then the angel who was speaking with me went out and said to me, “Please lift up your eyes and see what this is that is coming out.”

6And I said, “What is it?” And he said, “This is the basket that is going out.” And he said, “This is their appearance in all the land.”

7And behold, a lead disk was lifted up, and this was one woman sitting inside the ephah.

8And he said, “This is Wickedness,” and he threw her into the middle of the ephah basket, and he threw the lead weight onto its opening.

9Then I lifted up my eyes and saw, and behold, two women were coming out, and the wind was in their wings. They had wings like the wings of a stork, and they lifted up the ephah between the earth and the heavens.

10Then I said to the angel who was speaking with me, “Where are they taking the ephah?”

11And he said to me, “To build a house for her in the land of Shinar; and when it is prepared, she will be set there on her base.”
