Enoch 14
Enoch Sees Heavenly Glory Revealed
Open in the reader →1This is the book of the words of righteousness and of the reproof of the vigilant ones who are from eternity, just as the Holy and Great One commanded in that vision.
I saw in my sleep what I now speak with a tongue of flesh and with my spirit, which the Great One has given to men as a mouth, so that they might speak with it and understand in the heart.
As he created and gave to humankind to understand the word of knowledge, so also he created me and gave me reproof for the Watchers, the sons of heaven.
I wrote down your petition, and in my vision it was shown thus: that your petition will not be granted to you for all the days of eternity, and the sentence against you has been completed, and it will not be granted to you.
And from now on you shall not ascend into heaven for all eternity, and on the earth it has been declared that you shall be bound for all the days of eternity.
And before this, you will have seen the destruction of your beloved sons, and you will not have them for yourselves, but they will fall before you by the sword.
And your petition on their behalf will not be granted; nor on your own behalf; and you yourselves, while you weep and make supplication, will not speak a single word from the book that I wrote.
And a vision showed me thus: behold, in the vision the clouds were calling me, and the mist was calling me; and the course of the stars and the lightnings were driving me and urging me on, and in the vision the winds were making me fly, and carrying me off, and lifting me upward into heaven.
And I went in until I drew near to a wall built of stones of hail, and a tongue of fire surrounded it, and it began to make me afraid.
And I went into the tongue of fire, and I drew near to a great house built of hailstones; and the roof of that house was like a mosaic of hailstones, and its floor was hail.
Its ceiling was like the path of the stars and the lightnings, and among them were fiery cherubim, and their heaven was water.
and a fire was burning all around the walls, and beneath them was a blaze of fire.
And I went into that house, and it was hot like fire and cold like ice, and there was no delight of life within it; fear covered me, and trembling seized me.
And as I shook and trembled, I fell on my face and saw in the vision.
And behold, another house, greater than that one, and every doorway stood open before me; and it was built with tongues of fire.
And in every respect it excelled in splendor and glory and greatness, so that I am unable to tell you about its splendor and about its greatness.
And its floor was of fire, and above it were lightnings and the path of the stars, and its ceiling was blazing fire.
And I looked and saw within it a lofty throne; and its appearance was like crystal, and its wheels like the shining sun, and the voice of the cherubim.
And from beneath the throne came forth.
