Enoch 15

God Explains Judgment of Watchers

Open in the reader →

And he answered me and said to me, and I heard: “Do not fear, Enoch, righteous man and scribe of righteousness. Come near here and hear my word.”

And go, say to the watchers of heaven who have sent you to petition on their behalf: 'You ought to petition on behalf of men, and not men on your behalf.'

Why did you abandon the high, holy, eternal heaven, and lie with women, and defile yourselves with the daughters of men, and take wives for yourselves, and do as the children of the earth do, and beget giant sons?

But you were holy, spiritual beings, living eternal life. But you defiled yourselves with women, and by the blood of flesh you fathered children, and you desired the blood of men, and you did as they do, producing flesh and blood—those who die and perish.

Therefore I gave them women, so that they might beget children by them and offspring might be born to them, so that thus no work on the earth might be lacking to them.

But you, formerly, were spiritual beings, living an eternal life that does not die throughout all the generations of the world.

And because of this I have not appointed wives for you, for the dwelling of the spiritual ones of heaven is in heaven.

And now, the giants who were born from spirits and flesh will be called evil spirits upon the earth, and on the earth will be their dwelling.

And evil spirits came out from their flesh, because they were created from above; and from the holy Watchers was their beginning and first foundation. They shall be evil spirits.
