1 Enoch 39

1In those days chosen and holy children will descend from high heaven, and their offspring will become one with humankind.

2In those days Enoch received books of zeal and wrath, and books of tumult and confusion. “Mercy will not be upon them,” says the Lord of Spirits.

3In those days a whirlwind carried me away from the face of the earth and set me down at the farthest edge of the heavens.

4There I saw another vision: the dwelling places of the holy ones and the resting places of the righteous.

5There my eyes saw their dwelling place with the angels of righteousness, and their resting place with the holy ones. They ask and plead and pray on behalf of humankind. Righteousness flows before them like water, and mercy like dew upon the earth. So it is among them forever and ever.

6In that place my eyes saw the Chosen One of righteousness and faithfulness. Righteousness will be in his days, and the righteous and chosen will be without number before him forever and ever.

7I saw a dwelling place beneath the wings of the Lord of Spirits. All the righteous and chosen shine before him like the light of fire. Their mouth is filled with blessing, and their lips praise the name of the Lord of Spirits. Righteousness never comes to an end before him, and uprightness never comes to an end before him.

8There I wished to dwell, and my spirit longed for that dwelling place. My portion had been there from before, for so it was established for me before the Lord of Spirits.

9In those days I praised and exalted the name of the Lord of Spirits with blessing and praise, because he established me in blessing and praise, according to the will of the Lord of Spirits.

10For a long time my eyes looked at that place. I blessed him and praised him, saying, “Blessed is he, and may he be blessed from the beginning and forever.”

11There is no end before him. He knows, before the world was created, what is forever and what will be from generation to generation.

12Those who do not sleep bless you. They stand before your glory and bless and praise and exalt, saying, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of Spirits; he fills the earth with spirits.”

13There my eyes saw all those who do not sleep standing before him. They bless him and say, “Blessed are you, and blessed is the name of the Lord forever and ever.”

14My face changed, because I could not look.
