Enoch Sees Heavenly Host
Open in the reader →1After that I saw thousands of thousands and tens of thousands of tens of thousands, beyond numbering or reckoning, standing before the Lord of Spirits.
I saw—at the four wings of the Lord of Spirits I saw four other faces, different from those who do not sleep. I learned their names: the angel who came with me and showed me all the hidden things made their names known to me.
I heard the voices of those four faces as they praised before the Lord of glory.
The first voice blesses the Lord of Spirits forever and ever.
I heard another voice blessing the Chosen One and the chosen ones who cling to the Lord of Spirits.
I heard the third voice asking and praying for those who dwell on dry land, and making entreaty in the name of the Lord of Spirits.
I heard the fourth voice driving away the satans and not allowing them to enter before the Lord of Spirits to accuse those who dwell on dry land.
After that I asked the angel of peace, who travelled with me and showed me everything hidden, “Who are these four faces whom I saw, whose voices I heard and whom I wrote down?”
He told me, “This first one is Mikael, merciful and slow to anger. The second, who is over every illness and every wound of humankind, is Rufael. The third, who is over all power, is Gebriel. The fourth, who is over repentance for the hope of those who will inherit eternal life, is named Fanuel.”
These are the four angels of the Lord of Spirits, and I heard four voices in those days.
