1 Enoch 74

1And I saw for it another course and regulation: by that regulation it makes its course of the months.

2And all that Uriel, the holy angel who is their leader, showed me—I wrote down their positions as he showed them to me, and I wrote down their paths as they are, and I saw their lights until fifteen days were completed.

3In fifteen parts it completes all its light in the east, and in fifteen parts it completes all its darkness in the west.

4And in certain months it changes its settings, and in certain months it travels its course, one by one.

5For two months it sets with the sun in these two middle portals, in the third and in the fourth portal.

6For seven days it goes out and turns about, and it returns again through the gate from which the sun goes out; and it completes all its light, and it withdraws from the sun, and it enters for eight days through the sixth gate from which the sun goes out.

7And when the sun goes out from the fourth gate, it goes out for seven days, until it goes out from the fifth; and again it returns for seven days through the fourth gate, and completes all its light, and it withdraws and enters through the first gate for eight days.

8And again, it returns for seven days to the fourth gate, from which the sun comes out.

9Thus I saw their workings: how the moon rises and the sun sets in those days.

10And five days are added, and for the sun it reaches thirty days; and all the days that accrue to it for one of those five years, when completed, amount to three hundred and sixty-four days.

11And their excess for the sun and the stars comes to six days; in five years, at six each, it amounts for them to thirty days, and the moon falls behind the sun and the stars by thirty days.

12And the sun and the stars bring in all the years exactly; according to their stations forever, they do not advance or fall behind by a single day, but they complete the year in righteousness, exactly, in three hundred and sixty-four days.

13For three years there are one thousand ninety-two days, and for five years, one thousand eight hundred twenty days and eight; thus for eight years there are two thousand nine hundred twelve days, and ten and two days.

14As for the moon alone, its days come to one thousand and sixty-two days for three years and for five years.
