Exodus 39
Aaron's Garments for Holy Service
Open in the reader →1And from the blue, the purple, and the scarlet yarn they made finely woven garments for ministering in the sanctuary, and they made the holy garments for Aaron, just as Yahweh had commanded Moses.
And he made the ephod of gold, blue, purple, scarlet yarn, and finely twisted linen.
They hammered out sheets of gold and cut it into threads, to work it into the blue and into the purple and into the scarlet yarn and into the fine linen, the work of a skillful designer.
They made for it shoulder pieces, joined to it; at its two ends it was joined.
And the skillfully woven band of his ephod, which was on it, was of one piece with it and made like it: of gold, blue, purple, scarlet yarn, and fine twisted linen, just as Yahweh had commanded Moses.
And they made the onyx stones, enclosed in settings of gold, engraved like the engravings of a seal, according to the names of the sons of Israel.
And he set them on the shoulder pieces of the ephod as memorial stones for the sons of Israel, just as Yahweh had commanded Moses.
He made the breastpiece, the work of a skillful designer, like the work of the ephod: of gold, blue, purple, scarlet yarn, and finely twisted linen.
It was square; they made the breastpiece doubled, a span its length and a span its width, doubled.
And they mounted on it four rows of stones: the first row was a ruby, a topaz, and an emerald.
and the second row: turquoise, sapphire, and diamond.
and the third row: jacinth, agate, and amethyst.
and the fourth row: beryl, onyx, and jasper, mounted in settings of gold in their mountings.
And the stones corresponded to the names of the sons of Israel, twelve according to their names, engraved like a signet, each according to its name, for the twelve tribes.
And they made on the breastpiece chains of braided work, like cords, of pure gold.
They made two gold settings and two gold rings, and they put the two rings on the two ends of the breastpiece.
And they put the two gold cords on the two rings at the ends of the breastpiece.
And they put the two ends of the two braided chains on the two settings, and put them on the shoulder pieces of the ephod, at its front.
They made two gold rings and put them on the two ends of the breastpiece, on its edge that was on the inner side toward the ephod.
They made two gold rings and put them on the two shoulder pieces of the ephod, below, on its front side, opposite its joining, above the skillfully woven band of the ephod.
They fastened the breastpiece by its rings to the rings of the ephod with a cord of blue, so that it would be on the skillfully woven band of the ephod, and so that the breastpiece would not come loose from on the ephod, just as Yahweh had commanded Moses.
And he made the robe of the ephod, the work of a weaver, all of blue.
And the opening of the robe was in the middle of it, like the opening of a coat of mail, with a binding around its opening, so that it would not be torn.
And they made pomegranates of blue and purple and scarlet yarn, twisted, on the hem of the robe.
They made bells of pure gold, and they put the bells among the pomegranates on the hem of the robe, all around, among the pomegranates.
a bell and a pomegranate, a bell and a pomegranate, around the hem of the robe, all around, for ministering, just as Yahweh had commanded Moses.
They made the tunics of fine linen, the work of a weaver, for Aaron and for his sons.
the turban of fine linen, the ornate caps of fine linen, and the undergarments of finely twisted linen,
and the sash of finely twisted linen, and blue and purple and scarlet yarn, the work of an embroiderer, just as Yahweh had commanded Moses.
They made the plate, the holy crown, of pure gold, and they inscribed on it, like the engraving of a seal, “Holy to Yahweh.”
And they attached to it a cord of blue yarn, to put it above on the turban, just as Yahweh had commanded Moses.
Thus all the work of the tabernacle, the tent of meeting, was finished, and the sons of Israel did according to all that Yahweh had commanded Moses; so they did.
Then they brought the tabernacle to Moses—the tent and all its furnishings: its clasps, its frames, its bars, its pillars, and its bases.
the covering of ram skins dyed red, the covering of fine leather, and the veil of the screen;
the ark of the testimony, its poles, and the mercy seat.
the table, all its utensils, and the bread of the Presence—
the pure lampstand, its lamps—the lamps set in order—and all its utensils, and the oil for the light,
the gold altar, the anointing oil, the fragrant incense, and the screen for the entrance of the tent;
the bronze altar, and the bronze grating that was for it, its poles, and all its utensils; the basin and its stand;
the hangings of the court, its pillars and its bases, and the screen for the gate of the court, its ropes and its pegs, and all the utensils for the service of the tabernacle, for the tent of meeting;
the garments of woven work for ministering in the sanctuary, the holy garments for Aaron the priest, and the garments of his sons for serving as priests.
According to all that Yahweh had commanded Moses, so the sons of Israel did all the work.
And Moses saw all the work, and behold, they had done it; just as Yahweh had commanded, so they had done it. And Moses blessed them.
