Genesis 5

1This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day God created man, he made him in the likeness of God.

2Male and female he created them, and he blessed them and called their name Man on the day they were created.

3Adam lived one hundred thirty years and fathered a son in his likeness, according to his image, and called his name Seth.

4After he fathered Seth, Adam lived eight hundred years and fathered sons and daughters.

5So all the days of Adam that he lived were nine hundred and thirty years, and he died.

6Seth lived 105 years and fathered Enosh.

7After he fathered Enosh, Seth lived eight hundred and seven years and fathered sons and daughters.

8So all the days of Seth were nine hundred and twelve years, and he died.

9Enosh lived ninety years and fathered Kenan.

10And Enosh lived eight hundred and fifteen years after he fathered Kenan, and he fathered sons and daughters.

11So all the days of Enosh were nine hundred and five years, and he died.

12Kenan lived seventy years and fathered Mahalalel.

13And Kenan lived eight hundred and forty years after he fathered Mahalalel, and he fathered sons and daughters.

14So all the days of Kenan were nine hundred and ten years, and he died.

15Mahalalel lived sixty-five years and fathered Jared.

16After he fathered Jared, Mahalalel lived eight hundred and thirty years and fathered sons and daughters.

17So all the days of Mahalalel were eight hundred and ninety-five years, and he died.

18Jered lived one hundred sixty-two years and fathered Enoch.

19And Yered lived eight hundred years after he fathered Hanokh, and he fathered sons and daughters.

20So all the days of Yered were nine hundred and sixty-two years, and he died.

21Enoch lived sixty-five years and fathered Methuselah.

22Enoch walked with God three hundred years after he fathered Methuselah, and he fathered sons and daughters.

23So all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty-five years.

24Enoch walked with God, and he was no more, because God took him.

25Methuselah lived one hundred and eighty-seven years and fathered Lamech.

26After he fathered Lamech, Methuselah lived 782 years and fathered sons and daughters.

27So all the days of Methuselah were nine hundred sixty-nine years, and he died.

28And Lamech lived one hundred and eighty-two years, and fathered a son.

29And he called his name Noah, saying, “This one will comfort us from our work and from the painful toil of our hands, from the ground that Yahweh has cursed.”

30And Lamech lived five hundred and ninety-five years after he fathered Noah, and he fathered sons and daughters.

31So all the days of Lamech were seven hundred seventy-seven years, and he died.

32When Noah was five hundred years old, he fathered Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
