Leviticus 14

1And Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,

2This shall be the law for the leprous person on the day of his cleansing: he shall be brought to the priest.

3The priest shall go out to a place outside the camp, and the priest shall examine him; and behold, the disease of leprosy has been healed in the one with the skin disease,

4Then the priest shall command that two live clean birds, cedar wood, scarlet yarn, and hyssop be taken for the one being cleansed.

5Then the priest shall command that one bird be slaughtered over an earthenware vessel containing fresh water.

6As for the living bird, he shall take it, along with the cedar wood, the scarlet yarn, and the hyssop, and dip them and the living bird in the blood of the bird that was slaughtered over the fresh water.

7He shall sprinkle it on the one being cleansed from the skin disease seven times, and he shall pronounce him clean, and he shall let the living bird go free over the open field.

8The one being cleansed shall wash his clothes, shave off all his hair, and bathe in water; then he shall be clean. Afterward he may come into the camp, but he shall stay outside his tent for seven days.

9And on the seventh day he shall shave off all his hair: his head, his beard, and his eyebrows. He shall shave off all his hair, wash his clothes, and bathe his body in water; then he shall be clean.

10And on the eighth day he shall take two male lambs without blemish, and one ewe lamb a year old without blemish, and three-tenths of an ephah of fine flour as a grain offering mixed with oil, and one log of oil.

11And the priest who cleanses shall present the man who is being cleansed, along with those things, before Yahweh at the entrance of the tent of meeting.

12Then the priest shall take the one male lamb and present it as a guilt offering, along with the log of oil, and he shall wave them as a wave offering before Yahweh.

13And he shall slaughter the lamb in the place where they slaughter the sin offering and the burnt offering, in the holy place; for like the sin offering, the guilt offering belongs to the priest; it is most holy.

14Then the priest shall take some of the blood of the guilt offering, and the priest shall put it on the lobe of the right ear of the one being cleansed, and on the thumb of his right hand, and on the big toe of his right foot.

15Then the priest shall take some of the log of oil and pour it into the palm of his own left hand.

16The priest shall dip his right finger into some of the oil that is on his left palm, and with his finger he shall sprinkle some of the oil seven times before Yahweh.

17And from the rest of the oil that is on his palm, the priest shall put some on the lobe of the right ear of the one being cleansed, and on the thumb of his right hand, and on the big toe of his right foot, on top of the blood of the guilt offering.

18And what remains of the oil that is on the priest’s palm he shall put on the head of the one being cleansed, and the priest shall make atonement for him before Yahweh.

19Then the priest shall offer the sin offering and make atonement for the one being cleansed from his uncleanness; and afterward he shall slaughter the burnt offering.

20Then the priest shall offer up the burnt offering and the grain offering on the altar, and the priest shall make atonement for him, and he shall be clean.

21But if he is poor and his means are insufficient, then he shall take one male lamb for a guilt offering to be waved, to make atonement for him, and one-tenth of an ephah of fine flour mixed with oil for a grain offering, and one log of oil.

22and two turtledoves or two young pigeons, as his means can afford; and one shall be a sin offering and the other a burnt offering.

23And on the eighth day he shall bring them for his cleansing to the priest, at the entrance of the tent of meeting, before Yahweh.

24Then the priest shall take the guilt-offering lamb and the log of oil, and the priest shall wave them as a wave offering before Yahweh.

25Then he shall slaughter the guilt-offering lamb, and the priest shall take some of the blood of the guilt offering and put it on the lobe of the right ear of the one being cleansed, and on the thumb of his right hand, and on the big toe of his right foot.

26And from the oil the priest shall pour onto the palm of his own left hand.

27Then the priest shall sprinkle with his right finger some of the oil that is on his left palm seven times before Yahweh.

28And the priest shall put some of the oil that is on his palm on the lobe of the right ear of the one being cleansed, and on the thumb of his right hand, and on the big toe of his right foot, on the place of the guilt-offering blood.

29And the rest of the oil that is in the priest’s palm he shall put on the head of the one being cleansed, to make atonement for him before Yahweh.

30And he shall offer one of the turtledoves or one of the young pigeons, according to what his means can afford—

31whatever his means can afford, one as a sin offering and one as a burnt offering, along with the grain offering. Thus the priest shall make atonement for the one being cleansed before Yahweh.

32This is the law for him in whom there is an infection of skin disease, whose means cannot afford what is required for his cleansing.

33And Yahweh spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying,

34When you enter the land of Canaan that I am giving to you as a possession, and I put an outbreak of skin disease in a house in the land of your possession,

35then the owner of the house shall come and tell the priest, saying, ‘Something like a plague has appeared to me in the house.’

36Then the priest shall command that they empty the house before the priest goes in to inspect the diseased area, so that everything in the house may not become unclean; and afterward the priest shall go in to inspect the house.

37He shall examine the infection, and if the infection is in the walls of the house as sunken areas, greenish or reddish, and their appearance is deeper than the wall,

38Then the priest shall go out of the house to the doorway of the house and shut up the house for seven days.

39Then the priest shall return on the seventh day and look, and if the infection has spread in the walls of the house,

40then the priest shall command that they remove the stones in which the infection is, and throw them outside the city to an unclean place.

41He shall have the inside of the house scraped all around, and they shall pour out the dust that they scraped off outside the city into an unclean place.

42Then they shall take other stones and bring them in place of the stones, and he shall take other mortar and plaster the house.

43But if the disease returns and breaks out in the house after he has removed the stones, and after he has scraped the house, and after it has been plastered,

44then the priest shall come and inspect, and if indeed the infection has spread in the house, it is a destructive mildew in the house; it is unclean.

45Then he shall tear down the house—its stones, its timbers, and all the plaster of the house—and carry them out to an unclean place outside the city.

46And whoever enters the house during all the days that it is quarantined shall be unclean until the evening.

47And whoever lies down in the house shall wash his clothes, and whoever eats in the house shall wash his clothes.

48But if the priest comes in and looks, and behold, the disease has not spread in the house after the house was plastered, then the priest shall pronounce the house clean, because the disease is healed.

49And he shall take, to purify the house from sin, two birds, cedar wood, scarlet yarn, and hyssop.

50Then he shall slaughter the one bird into an earthenware vessel over living water.

51Then he shall take the cedar wood, the hyssop, the scarlet yarn, and the living bird, and dip them in the blood of the slaughtered bird and in the fresh water, and sprinkle the house seven times.

52Thus he shall cleanse the house with the blood of the bird, with the living water, with the live bird, with cedar wood, with hyssop, and with scarlet yarn.

53Then he shall release the live bird outside the city into the open field. Thus he shall make atonement for the house, and it shall be clean.

54This is the law for every case of leprous disease and for an itch.

55and for a skin disease in a garment or in a house,

56and for a swelling, and for a scab, and for a bright spot.

57to give instruction about when it is unclean and when it is clean. This is the law concerning the defiling condition.
