Leviticus 15
Uncleanness from Bodily Discharges
Open in the reader →1Then Yahweh spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying,
Speak to the sons of Israel and say to them: When any man has a discharge from his body, his discharge is unclean.
And this shall be his uncleanness in his discharge: whether his body runs with his discharge, or his body is stopped up from his discharge, it is his uncleanness.
Every bed on which the man with the discharge lies shall be unclean, and every vessel on which he sits shall be unclean.
And a man who touches his bed shall wash his clothes and bathe in water, and he shall be unclean until the evening.
Whoever sits on the object on which the man with the discharge sat shall wash his clothes and bathe in water, and he shall be unclean until the evening.
Whoever touches the flesh of the man with the discharge shall wash his clothes and bathe in water, and he shall be unclean until the evening.
And if the man with the discharge spits on a clean person, he shall wash his clothes and bathe in water, and he shall be unclean until the evening.
And every saddle on which the man with the discharge rides shall be unclean.
And everyone who touches anything that was under him shall be unclean until the evening, and whoever carries them shall wash his clothes and bathe in water, and be unclean until the evening.
And everyone whom the man with the discharge touches, without having washed his hands in water, shall wash his clothes and bathe in water, and be unclean until the evening.
And an earthen vessel that the one with the discharge touches shall be broken, and every wooden vessel shall be rinsed with water.
And when the man with the discharge is cleansed from his discharge, then he shall count seven days for his cleansing, and wash his clothes and bathe his body in living water; then he shall be clean.
And on the eighth day he shall take for himself two turtledoves or two young pigeons, and he shall come before Yahweh at the entrance of the tent of meeting and give them to the priest.
The priest shall offer them, one as a sin offering and the other as a burnt offering, and the priest shall make atonement for him before Yahweh because of his discharge.
And if a man has an emission of semen, he shall wash all his flesh in water and be unclean until the evening.
And every garment and every skin on which there is an emission of semen shall be washed with water and be unclean until the evening.
If a man lies with a woman and has an emission of semen, both of them shall wash in water and be unclean until the evening.
When a woman has a discharge, and her discharge in her body is blood, she shall remain in her menstrual impurity seven days, and everyone who touches her shall be unclean until evening.
And everything on which she lies during her menstrual impurity shall be unclean, and everything on which she sits shall be unclean.
And everyone who touches her bed shall wash his clothes and bathe in water, and he shall be unclean until the evening.
And everyone who touches any object on which she sits shall wash his clothes and bathe in water, and he shall be unclean until the evening.
And if it is on the bed or on the item on which she sits, when he touches it he shall be unclean until the evening.
If a man indeed lies with her, and her menstrual impurity comes upon him, he shall be unclean seven days, and every bed on which he lies shall be unclean.
If a woman has a discharge of blood for many days, not at the time of her menstrual impurity, or if she has a discharge beyond her menstrual impurity, all the days of her unclean discharge she shall be unclean, as in the days of her menstrual impurity.
Every bed on which she lies during all the days of her discharge shall be to her like the bed of her menstruation, and every vessel on which she sits shall be unclean, like the uncleanness of her menstruation.
And everyone who touches them shall be unclean, and he shall wash his clothes and bathe in water, and be unclean until the evening.
But if she is cleansed from her discharge, then she shall count seven days for herself, and after that she shall be clean.
And on the eighth day she shall take for herself two turtledoves or two young pigeons, and bring them to the priest at the entrance of the tent of meeting.
Then the priest shall offer one as a sin offering and the other as a burnt offering, and the priest shall make atonement for her before Yahweh because of her unclean discharge.
Thus you shall warn the sons of Israel about their uncleanness, so that they may not die in their uncleanness by defiling my tabernacle, which is among them.
This is the law for the one with a discharge, and for him from whom an emission of semen goes out, making him unclean by it:
and for the woman who is sick in her menstrual impurity, and for the one who has a discharge, whether male or female, and for a man who lies with an unclean woman.
